It kinda reminds me of Archon where you fight against each other if you land your unit on a same space your opponent's unit is on.

That looks absolutely amazing. I was just reading the guy's blog:

From what I've seen, a map, for example, could have Johto, Kanto and Sevii Islands in it, just in a map. I think that's what he's aiming for.

But Hoenn is at the far west of Kanto, Shinnoh is on far north and Unova is on the other side of the world.

Bahaha I was looking for this, was gonna make a thread and decided to take a quick look at the threads before that :3
There's several people playing this at my data structure classes (yes, during the class xD) and I always forget to ask what game it is because the battles look fun.
