Why does whenever someone posts their level they post it as a number than an x? Example: I am lvl 2x!
This makes absolutely no sense to me.

...as in x represents a number so like 20-30 would be 2x...
I don't see whats so difficult sir.

When people level to fast, they use X to symbolize they are in the (for example) 20-30 level range, shown as 2x.

Because in every algebraic expression (at least the basic ones), "X" is the most commonly used variable to represent any given number. For example:
"I bought X amount of potatoes."
"3x+4=12".
This causing it to fill in the second digit on the number.
/math lesson.

"I'm 2x!" This means this person can be level 20,21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28, or 29. x is a variable because they level fast or they don't feel like updating things, and every 10 levels is a much longer time then every level.

uh no, that's completely misleading.
in that equation x is not being used the fill in the second number. that equation is 3 times X plus 4 equals 12.
The OP had a slight confusion because when you place a number next to a variable (especially when that variable is X) its most commonly seen as multiplication. However, in the gaming world, when talking about levels, having a variable in your level simply means that that number is unspecified. Don't ask why... i guess its just convenient, however misleading it may be at first. You get used to it though.
So in math 2X means 2 times x,
while in gaming: lvl 2x, means that you are some level between 20~29. Thus the oddness created for the OP. Hope this cleared things up.

You're all wrong. It means they're level 2 + x. Where x is equal to any number integer ranging 18 to 27! /What exactly is this called? IT IS COMMUNIST MATH.

"x" is just a placeholder for a digit in the level number.

It's just shorthand for "20-something", "30-something", etc.

Really. You honestly couldn't figure that out. Really?
x = one digit place saver for those who ether dont want to update there status that often, aren't on as much, or other. It stands for any number between 0~9
And kleptophobia is wrong. But I dont know if thats sarcasm or not. I hope so...

It makes perfect sense. Even at really high levels you can get 1 lvl per 2 days. If you post exact level it's out of date in 2 days. But if you're currently 110 and you post your lvl as 11x, you only need to change it once you reach 120.

I'm just lazy and change it every 10 levels. Plus if it doesn't need to be exact, you can just give someone a general idea.

Level yx= 10y+x.
y= first one or two digits of level
x= last digit
For example, say x=5 and y=11. That would be level 115 (NOT 11x5=55). 10x11+5=110+5=115.

Ah. I guess I didnt think of this because I like to be precise. If someone says its 3:00 when its 2:56 I yell at them. O.o

There's no auto-update on Southperry, compared to shouting out the current time in less than 500 ms.
As everyone else explained, x is an integer from 0 to 9. Then your level is is the sum of x and the number before x times 10.
