the word corsair is also used generically as a more romantic or flamboyant version of the word privateer, or even of the word pirate.

I still don't know why they renamed it.

They didn't change the names, you have to understand, there are multiple ways of translating something. Nexon are in no way obliged to stick with the abritrary fan translation.
