Nah, won't be 36 straight. Will probably be 20, then up for 2-3 hours (plenty of time to get hacked) then down for 5, then up again for maybe 10 hours, and down for another 6, and so on until the weekend comes and we're left to cope with whatever state the game is in for 50-60 hours...

Yeah, but... it is scheduled to end in the middle of the night for most.
Who wants to sit up all night waiting for the servers to come up in order to log on before the account hackers do.
Guess I'll just take the risk of it actually finishing before 7am.

i care less about beating the hackers on, than waiting for it, then having, say, 3 hours in 1 hour increments of waiting, at freaking midnight. not cool.

Probably everything. If they're on chat I'm sure some people will tell them things. Also it sounds like they're bringing in the KMS team and what not. This should be good can't wait to see what happens. If NEXON KR is there I don't expect a mess up

For some reason, seeing how differently-than-usual they worded the notice and how they stated that "Maple team, IT and software engineers, as well as our developers from abroad" will work on it.. Well, I actually have my hopes up for this too.

Yes, we know Nexon America often screws up. But they probably finally realised that their game needed those fixes which they could not provide (due to not enough knowledge, maybe), so they decided to do a huge server upgrade with the very experienced staff from Korea, so that might mean fixes of memory leaks and lots of other bugs which have been affecting the game lately. And maybe security upgrades and whatnot.

I do know that Nexon has been screwing up A LOT lately, but.. now that there's the official team on the works, I don't see why not hoping for this to turn out in something good.

I guess we'll wait and see.

Seeing the many maintenances and patch times from NexonKR being almost usually on time and things actually get fixed, I'm hoping for a better tomorrow for MapleStory Global.....

I agree. This doesn't seem like your usual "server" upgrade stuff. Plus it was in the dev blog and Eyurdice made a BIG deal about it. Well not BIG but she said it would be massive. Here:

We’re really excited about Ascension – so much so that we had originally planned for it to be ready by now. While preparing the update over the past few months, however, it became clear that our servers need some significant upgrades. While we’ve continuously made small changes and improvements while working on updates, what we really need now are some major changes requiring a dedicated effort from the MapleStory team.

With this goal in mind, we’ve decided to first complete what we’re calling a “server update.” This is a pure backend update that won’t include any player-facing content. We knew that it would be frustrating for players to have to deal with a downtime and an update only to log back in to the game and find that nothing had changed, so I wanted to let you know that it was coming. While you won’t see any changes after the server update, it should greatly improve the game in the long run.

Eyurdice has been pretty truthful on the things shes said so I'm willing to believe her.
