Dear Maplers,

We will be performing an extended server maintenance for approximately 12 hours to upgrade MapleStory game servers. MapleStory has been live for over 6 years and during those years we have made tons of updates including our milestone v1.0 update that we celebrated not too long ago.

This maintenance is a massive upgrade to ensure that MapleStory can run strong for the next many years. During the downtime, many teams will be hands-on, including the Maple team, IT and software engineers, as well as our developers from abroad. On the day of the server upgrade we will be on the forums running events and hanging out in Sleepywood.nets IRC channel if youre in the mood to chat. Please find Sleepywood.nets policies and instructions here.

Thank you in advance for your patience, and we hope we can make this downtime as painless as possible!

Let's hope they are also taking the time to fix all these hacks.

Oh who am I kidding? It's hopeless.

12 hours!? Nexon's on a roll! Although they should change the time to 48 hours!

They're also going to browse the bugs and glitches section.

Hopefully they'll fix/address the problems such as the current one with ht.

Not to mention the hacking complaints posted there regularly as well.

If it hasn't been fixed for over a year, it'll never be fixed lol

Should be interesting to see how Nexon does with this.

This will just turn the other way around and cause unstability in the game for the next weeks, requiring many unscheduled SCs. Not before they gotta extend the SC 6 hours pass the 12 hours they are already taking.

Don't get me wrong, I wanna be positive, but how many times has it gone that way?

Also In B4no hack defense improvement is implemented and no maplepoints are given.

I still don't entirely understand whether this is a hardware upgrade or they're actually changing something in their server software to prevent all (ok, some) of the recurring hacks and exploits. Think they'll be able to make it so that when a channel crashes it doesn't roll back?
Oh, and old favorites like town lag, cc bug, graphic(?) memory leaks, and the list goes on...

Here's hoping. But, not holding my breath for any of these to be fixed, tbh. Am expecting plenty of new bugs, lags, and downtimes.

Just to be clear, this starts in about 12 hours, yes?

I wonder if we'll get our maple points in this thing, or if there's another SC this week.

This should be.. interesting. Would've been better if they actually stated what they're doing instead of being vague.

Probably everything. If they're on chat I'm sure some people will tell them things. Also it sounds like they're bringing in the KMS team and what not. This should be good can't wait to see what happens. If NEXON KR is there I don't expect a mess up

The wording here...I'm sorry, but to me it just sounds like they are saying for the past 6 years they have been running on the same infrastructure. I know (hope) that isn't true, but part of me just...doesn't know. ;_;

BTW, friendly warning: if you have anything up for sale in MTS, cancel sale (if you can... not sure what MTS functionality is still available).
I fully expect this "server upgrade" to bring back the MTS leaking User ID's.
Nexon has a long history of unfixing emergency patches on the next pre-planned update.

If only they realized how much of their population is either scared to be or has already been hacked, and how badly that's affected them. I've lost count of the number of people who've quit after being hacked in the past 2-3 weeks, and it's really much more noticeable on a server like Yellonde. We went from like 40 people all the way down to 12!

This will be going over 20 hours. Just watch, just watch

I'll go there and ask them to host an event here!

*Looks at all the SW infractions for crediting southperry*

I wouldn't be the least surprised if that were the case (and if I had to bet money on it, I'd probably bet on that over any other alternative). And assuming that to be the case, I'd be greatly surprised if they can actually finish in 12 hours.

And I'm curious if Sleepywood can handle all the traffic they'll be getting those 12 hours, and wondering when SP will get its turn, if ever.
