/find harass
#1
Anyone else think much of Maple's harassment/stalking issues are the result of /find?

I don't see why this function would be useful to locate someone who isn't on your buddylist aside from wanting to stalk or harass em. Even for people on your buddylist, it doesn't make much sense why you would need to see their exact location without asking them.

What do you think?

If you're being harassed you can just turn off whispers.

For finding friend's mules? Getting into runs? Finding people who are in your alliance?
There are plenty of useful reasons for /find that don't end into stalking or harassment.

I've always thought that blacklisted individuals ought not be able to /find you, sadly this isn't the case. To respond, useful, but it has its limitations and drawbacks (see first sentence), also having to CC can be a bit annoying.

But stalking is fun.

Pretty much this.

I use it to avoid certain individuals or track individuals that have an item I'm interested in purchasing.

>I whisp him (wat yo doing?)
>He party-says; I'm just charging my ilbis Big Grin

Just an example. /find > /kick

Yet others can use it to keep KSing people. :o

Like certain game options, I believe us as players should aloud to be finded or not. If I'm selling something, I'll let people find me, if I want to be alone, I'll block it.
Like I do often with whispers.

It's always better having an option than being forced to.

I've must have used it a thousand times now, and like 2, maybe 3 times for stalking, so option 3.
If people annoy you, you can always blacklist them.

I've always found it handy. I think we'd be a lot worse off if it was removed for general usage.

Edit: And I misclicked on the poll. Oops.

Oops, misclicked on the poll as well.

I find it more useful than harmful. (I've never been harassed nor have I used it for harassment). My opinion lies with option 3, but I misread and clicked 2 instead.

If there was no /find there would be a lot less people getting DC hacked from bosses.
But there are MANY more useful reasons.

I don't see why removing it would be the worst thing ever. You can click on your buddies in buddy list to see their location, you can use the location button in guild to find guildy locations, they could make one for alliance, party and exped you just hover over. The only actual use behind /find is for actual stalking, whether it be just for fun or for wanting to D/C someone inside a boss run. Since Nexon's way of battling hacks is not actually fixing them, but instead changing something in game (using skills in FM for example), they could easily do this and I would be happy.

But which method is much faster: typing /find *character name* or having to go through the guild list (up to 100 players) to find the player you want and then clicking on location?

There are for more beneficial reasons for having this command than not having it. Personally, I would argue that it is one of the best game-play features of maple.

There isn't much of a DCing (I didn't even know people still get DCed nowadays...) or KSing issue in Kradia so my opinion might differ a lot from people who have to experience those.

Do not play Maplestory of course but I voted for option two.

./find is stupid. It let's you instantly stalk anyone boss Hunter and if they're ina place long enough chances are they have a boss. Wanna go over and wreck it for them? Sure channel 19 Parlor OB3LISK has an Anego let's rush hurry up.

I remember Killed also mentioned people used to get Anego respawn times by tracking his movements.

In PQs back in the day it was real useful, especially in LPQ to see where people were and when I should start clicking, but otherwise it's a hinderance.

/find + Hyper Rock = ultimate stalking experience.

at least its not like /who of wow.

/who -name of the guild- you can see everyone from said guild that is online and where they are.

If I had to to put up with the 3 extra seconds of finding the person in my guild/buddy list to track them, so that stalking people to d/c them stopped, I wouldn't mind it one bit. More populated servers have to deal with D/Cing every day.

It's completely useless for anything except to stalk and save 3 seconds so you don't have to go through buddy/guild list.
