Mastery Book Prices Post Chaos
#1
I've seen some discussions on the forum about the prices of skillbooks pre and post chaos and see a general consensus that the hard to get books will deflate, while books that are currently in abundance will rise in price.

So my question is, should I try passing my skills now, or save the money to pass them post-chaos? Main skill I still need to pass is MW 30, and a few of the other less important archer skills (Phoenix, Hamstring, Dragon Breath). Will MW 30 be cheaper, or more expensive?

How was it like in KMS when they got chaos (like...their mastery book prices before and after), and do they have the context we have (the number of people killing HT, Pink Bean, etc.)? Are there as many hackers in KMS as there are in GMS (some places no one would normally train at, but because there are so many hackers there, there is an influx of the books that shouldn't exist...ex. SE 20 and Blue Kents)?

Also, do we get SP resets with Chaos, and will it be like the Big Bang one (where they have hot times instead of just handing them out)?

I expect what you said above to occur, rare books that are expensive to deflate, common books that are cheap to inflate, but with some exceptions such as mw30, which I expect to inflate like mad after some of the storehouses of hackers are cleared out.

All books now have a 1/195 chance of appearing.
Meaning it'd take at least 195 botters looting 1 Secret Mastery Book for your certain skill to pop up. I'm pretty sure it'll inflate.

Is this known for certain, or did somebody just speculate and its getting repeated around as gospel?
That would be dumb even for Nexon; to make books that every class needs come out at the same rate as books for the least popular class.

Conversely, Secret Mastery Books drop from everything as opposed to certain skill books dropping from monsters only botters train at.

Quote:dumb even for Nexon

*mind boggles at the paradox*

Fact is, book drop rates or locations never made any sense at all. Neither before or after BB. The "Secret Mastery Book" thing sounds like Nexon giving up on trying to balance supply and demand. "OK, everything will drop everything, now stop whining about your books only dropping from mobs you can't train on, or more rarely than somebody else's books, or whatever else."

BUT DOES THAT MEAN THERE'S A 0.55% CHANCE TO GET NOTHING?!?!

Likely a rounding error.

There are those who spent days trying to hunt for a single Chain Lightning or a Blaze 20.

Now change that to spending days just to get a random mastery book and hope that you'll get it
out of 0.55% chance. Treasure monsters could have fixed this but they were nerfed with spadow
commenting they rarely appear now.

Unless they can greatly increase the drop rate for mastery books, its a good chance desired books will have an inflation.

Even hackers will prefer a pre-chaos pink been for a near guaranteed MW 30 rather than wasting time
botting just to get a Big Bang 30.

Well at least hurricane 20 will be possible to get now...oh wait passed it two days ago f3. I'll be zakking twice a day to get books hoping for something nice (at least until JUMP where they basically give you the books you need).

20% versions of the Evan/DB Mastery books. All others are rare in JMS, and they're the most common. Another one of their tried independent patches which ultimately fail.

No Joe.
I think only mobs that used to drop Mastery Books of a sort still drop Mystery Mastery Books.

That's what I was thinking. While books such as Hurricane 20 (as mentioned in this thread already, which only drops from Buffoons and Gatekeepers) will probably deflate due to increased supply, what about books such as SE 20 (which are supposedly hard to find, because the Blue Kent map has lots of climbing and is overall very big when you can't tele all over the map)? Will those go up? or will they go down as well?

Also, still hoping for an answer on whether we get SP resets with Chaos.

SP resets are also date tagged (they were in BB) so tespians can't answer that.

Wondering if they were handed out in KMS when they got chaos. Then again, that might be pointless, seeing as how our SP resets were handled with Big Bang...

According to spadow they were. There was hot time regardless.

Makes me wonder if CWKPQ will drop Mystery Books too.
