[Server Maintenance] MapleStory 10/9

MapleStory will be going through a scheduled Server Maintenance on Thursday, October 9th, 2008.



This one involves the game servers, and it'll last for approximately 6 hours.

Pirates, or Halloween event?

Nah, not a patch. They often write <MapleStory Patch> in Server Maintenances.

Uhm.. pretty expected, I must say. They will re-release some CS items they took off, and delay the patch of another week / maybe 2 weeks.

So, the Halloween / Pre-pirates Patch will be more close to Halloween itself, and it will make more sense.

There are still some chances for Tespia?

Since a lot, but you see, they didn't write Server Maintenance for mistake. That's because they also put the notice in the "notices" section, not the "updates" one (the one where they put all patches).

So, this is a REAL server maintenance.

The probability they did two mistakes so big together is 1%.

But you may notice that this is the first time they didn't explain what a server maintenance is at the bottom of the notice. Perhaps that's just another mistake, though.

Alright, they do these kind of mistakes sometimes.

I remember another time when they wrote < MapleStory Patch > instead of < MapleStory Server Maintenance>.

But I can't remember a time when they put a Server Maintenance in the updates section for mistake, and vice-versa.

- CwK patch is 2 months ago - Last REAL patch
- Patch 0.60 was just some CS items (robopets) & lunchbox quest
- Nexon had 2 months to work on the new patch

Patch .60 released MiniDungeons and Area Boss 2, both of which consumed a whole patch each for KMS. Not major but it's nothing to be writing off as a "CS patch".


What I'm thinking is that they had this notice written up in advance. It was originally supposed to be a patch. Certain things this week (channels crashing, server instability, etc.) caused them to delay this scheduled patch and replace it with a maintenance. A quicky change from patch-to-SC to the notice would explain away most of these inconsistencies.

Most of the pirate stuff is in the data already. All they have to do is flip the switch, I believe.


6 Hours for Halloween "Event" Mansion + Singapore...sounds about right. I mean, all they are adding are a few NPCs and map datas for the event. That should take like an hour. And then Singapore is probably, at most, 3 hours. Then throw in another 2 hours to add random data/test/fix bugs and extend it another 2-3 hours. Bam. There's your patch.


Still just a guess. But a patch makes the most sense. I mean, 6 hours for a server check? I doubt it. I'm going to assume the orders came from a higher up to a general GM or somebody and they accidently posted it as Server Maintenance instead of a Patch. And who knows where the mistake would have been thrown as to what it should be put as.

Hmm...maybe this SC is somewhat of a pre-patch. Finish adding the pirate data, fix the chs, add data for halloween events, etc. Then next week while have a mega patch, 24 hours again.

It's probably just a super server check o_O It's not like we've never had ridiculously long server checks before....

The patch probably won't be until next week or the week after.

why does everyone think that the halloween event won't start until like the 20th? That's not very much time for this whole event that's supposed to be so great.

Ugg. hopefully this 'server check' is a surprise patch
Does anybody know a patch that was 6 hours so we can confirm this possibility

The banner doesn't ensure that pirates comes out sooner. For one, no matter when it starts, the event will not end until at least Halloween, and I'd rather have the event sooner rather than later. (If not, at least Singapore) Also, pirates are not confirmed to be in November. It could be January, or even next summer before they come out.
