Obama's speech on the Libyan conflict vs. the facts

Once again Obama speaks but doesnt listen. Congress told him he had to explain in full detail the reason for going to Libya and outline the goals and exit strategy. He failed miserably. So here is a comparison of what he said vs. the facts.

Ofcourse his own party is going to say that he explained it well enough, thats a given. While he did explain some things he left out that much more. If you listen to the speech (thanks for the chatch by the way) he made some claims that have not been backed up and as many of the people here love to see proof, so do I. He didnt do that. That is where he failed and thus part of the reason I dont believe we even belong there.

I too wonder about the Ivory Coast as well as Yemen, Bahrain, Syria and several other nations in that area that have similar if not worse things going on than what is happening in Libya.

As far as actually being on topic goes, The one thing everyone should take from this (sub-par) topic is that bicameral systems are clearly broken and undemocratic. But that's ok, the USA is a republic anyway. Hurrah!1!!

I had to read down to realize it was "looking for no political discussion rule."

Anyways, I don't think he has any power to be in Libya. Just like Bush and many presidents before him he has went to war without actually declaring war. In 2007 Obama said he didn't believe the government had the power to militarily intervene anywhere without congressional approval or if a country was an immediate threat to the United States. Libya is not an immediate threat to the United States and congress has not declared war on Libya, therefore we should not be militarily involved in Libya. Just because America has the ability to police the world doesn't mean we should be doing so.

You are exactly right on the money. Thats one of the issues I have with Obama. I am glad to see others seeing the same thing.
