Best Thing I Ever Ate

I watch too much Food Network.

Pretty self-explanatory, though. Post the best thing you've ever eaten and all the shenanigans involving where to get it.

For me, it would be a Fantasy Roll at Yo Sushi in Vallejo. Last I had one (er...last time I'll ever have had one, at that) was before I dedicated myself to eating trees rocks and dirt was around this time last year. It's a real crab, avocado, and sweet cucumber roll topped with salmon and/or unagi, breaded with panko, deep fried, cut in half, and smothered in house sauce which I don't know what it is. It's AMAZING! The fish is usually salty, the house sauce is er...tangy, and the sushi itself is sweet inside. And it's deep fried. I never thought I'd like deep fried sushi so much.

The next best thing would actually be this thing I do with oyster mushrooms; I brush a stalk+top with butter and roll it in a flaxseed, flour, salt, and water mix, then roll that in panko. Sprinkle it with chili powder and grapeseed oil, bake in toaster oven for 15 minutes. It ends up tasting like a scallop...chicken nugget. I figured this out by just messing around in the kitchen. :S

Best Cesar salad I have ever eaten was in LA, California. I was about 11 or 12, I can still remember the taste today.

Second best was in a cooking course I was taking last year. I believe there was a tapas presentation and the guest chef had prepared some sort of scallops. It was my first time eating scallops. The caramalization on the outside of them was to die for.

Some well marinated salmon and a clam chowder in a sourdough bread when I was in San Francisco.

Don't know if it's my best, but it's the only one I can remember right now.

I can't think of THE BEST food I've ever eaten, but, thanks to Alley, I'll say the best caesar salad I've ever had was at this place called Anthony's. The restaurant was really nice, too. Great atmosphere, great food, great view out the windows.

At the Capital Grill in Troy, MI I had a Lobster and Crab burger. It was $20 and was the most succulent and delicious thing I have ever put in my mouth. It was seasoned to perfection and served on a fresh brioche roll and a complimented by a tangy homemade tartar sauce. If we ever had the money to go back I would get it again!

Hmm, I'd have to be like the others and say that I can't really break it down to one BEST of all.

My closest however, would have to be this Brazilian meat buffet I went to once for overall variety and the fact that it was a MEAT BUFFET. Bacon-wrapped everything was offered practically. Of course there is always the downside of getting sick afterward from eating too much. (I mean, you want one of each, but they have like 18 and the serving size is about 5 ounces. That and you pay a boatload so you feel you need to get your money's worth).

As for actual items, the Fillet Minion from Ruth Chris's (or the other way, Chris's Ruth, not sure) holds my number 1 for that, and the Luxor Steakhouse of Las Vegas had the best Prime Rib I've ever had. Best fast food chicken for me is Chic'fil'a. Best burgers don't exist anymore for me since the Australian restaurant I had a great one went out of business and the chain that had a pretty good one went downhill. Favorite Ice cream would have to be that blond vanilla with a lot of butter fat with a few light toppings, like the stuff at that factory I visited last year in the Midwest. Best turkey, deep fried. And on the topic of deep fried, those Snickers bars at the fair. And those oven baked odd shaped apple pancakes are very nice too... I could go on for a while.

Best thing I never had was a special I sampled that my uncle ordered when he was visiting and we met him somewhere. Fillet Minion Pot Pie.

Good man eatting in my home town. That place is AMAZING!!!! I'd pay any price for anything in that place. Food is amazing. Drinks are awesome.

My fav. would of been this restaurant in Troy, MI called Big Fish II but it's closed now. Best seafood place around. The salmon was to die for. The crab cakes melt in your mouth. Amazing.
