Most likely a CS item, notice the other sprites with no equips just cS items. Yay Nexon.

It's a knuckle. One of the other characters has a gun equipped on the jMS version of that world select screen but they removed it. They probably just didn't notice that the knuckle-wearing character even has a weapon on, thinking it was just a glove.
