I was in the fourth grade and the principal announced it when the class was going to art. Most of us had no idea what was going on, but we soon found out the tragedy...

A very sad day for all of us.

I was in my home, turned the tv on and said

"oh hey a movie"

Man I was so little I didn't realize the great tragedy that had just happened.

BTW, The "heroes" of the fourth plane never existed, it was the goverment who destroyed the plane, cruel yes, but if you think about it if they hadn't done it more people would have died

It's still the 10th here in America. What happened on 9/11 where you're from?

In all seriousness, i feel bad for all the people who have their birthdays on 9/11. majority of people will only remember OMG terroristsssssss

On 9/11, 2001, I was in sixth or seventh grade. When I found out, I was on my way to my Health class. My friend came up to me and said, "come to class quickly and look at the news! Some guy just crashed a plane into a building!" At first I was like, "LOL WHAT! That dumbass!" because I didn't know exactly what had happened... So, I went through just about the entire class time watching the news in silence, not sure of what was going on. Throughout the day, there were teachers crying, screaming, and just a lot if hysteria in general. By the end of the day, I was told what was happened and I started to feel really bad for laughing. However, I still couldn't stop myself from cutting up with my friends about it (I was ignorant >_>). We got to go home early that day and when I got home, I found my mom crying so much. She started talking about how a war could start up and crap and I got scared. lol

After that, I don't remember much except staying home for a couple of days and watching the news 24/7 with my family. I was scared shi'tless that there was going to be a war.

My flight back to Canada was about a day before 9/11 happened. If it was delayed, I think I could have died. I was pretty lucky. :|

My mom woke me up early in the morning and told me that "Two planes crashed into some buildings." I thought to myself "You pineapple'ing woke me up for this?"

I remember being in second grade and french class and my dad came and picked me and my brother up and we went home. I was really clueless then.

I was like 17 or something and was in for my last pediatrician appt, some adults had the news on and
I got to witness everything including the missed plane, both planes that hit the towers, the stupid pentagon freaking out that they were gonna get it.

It was actually pretty sad to see that crap going down, I have too much empathy, and would NOT want to be a part of that crap.

I was in third grade at the time; I think I found out during class but I'm not sure because I think there was news on TV in the morning when I woke up. That day I first heard the words "tragedy", "terrorist", and "hijack", except no one told me what they meant. Beyond that, I don't recall anything else about the day or the days following. Should I?

I have pictures of myself as a 2 year old kid with the towers in the background. I don't remember that, of course.

Here at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, our College Democrats and College Republicans laid 3,000 small U.S. flags on our main central campus hill, in memorial of the day, since we couldn't do the actual event on 9/11 itself.

And on the actual day itself back in 2001, I came home from 5th grade to find my grandparents still home, even though they were supposed to fly back home that morning to New Jersey. IIRC they were supposed to fly into La Guardia. Clearly that did not happen.

Moving the discussion forward, I'd like to point out that LOFT, the retail brand I work for, is hosting its nationwide Fall Styling Event all day tomorrow on 9/11. While some may find that "blasphemous," etc., I think it's interesting to note that their corporate headquarters are in Times Square, so it's not like they're oblivious to the fact. The real fact of the matter is that the tragedy occurred 9 years ago, and while those who lived through it will never forget, I believe the American public is doing an adequate job of moving on. Of course I say that, and next year things will be huge considering it's the 10th anniversary, but I think it's important to point out how far we've come since then.

i was in 8th grade, we had just come in from recess and were about to start french class, but neither teacher was around. eventually one of my classmates went out searching and found them in the staff lounge gathered around the tv, some were crying. my french teacher came back and told us all, "stay put. something serious has happened... a lot of people have been killed." her eyes were red and she disappeared back into the lounge. we were all still kids and this really meant nothing to us so we took the chance to goof off. eventually we were called to the gym where a tv was set up. the principal explained what happened and no one really understood the impact of it. we watched the footage for a while, it was people screaming and crying. eventually we were sent home early, my dad was parked in front of the tv, glued to the coverage.

i think that really it's only recently sank in just how awful and devastating that day was, and how much the world was changed by it. not to mention that, while america did go to war, we managed to avoid another world war which is... just amazing.

I didn't even know about 9/11 until about 5 years after it happened. Lol. At the time I was 8 years old.

I suppose that's just to get away from the massive amounts of "OMG 9/11 ;_______; SO SAD".
