Transparent backgrounds on PNGs?
#1
Lately, I've been trying to make images with transparent backgrounds, but they all end up having a white background. This doesn't happen to my older avatar, though.

Look at my current avatar. It should have a transparent background, not a white one.

Example (same image, different forum) : http://forums.elswordhq.com/topic/7412578/1/#new

However, older images I've made, in the exact same format, turn out to have transparent backgrounds.

Example :

I'm doing the exact same thing to make the images have transparent backgrounds, but the new ones keep getting white backgrounds on vBulletin forums. I don't understand...

If the dimensions or file size are too big, the image will be resized and lose any transparency.

The image isn't/wasn't too big. It was actually smaller than the size limit.

The fact it's a png being served as a gif probably isn't helping.

I think vBulletin is just not liking what Paint.net is doing to the new images I'm making. >_>

I saved it with a browser program and it seems to be working now. I wonder what's causing it, though... I haven't messed with, upgraded, or anything with the program at all. I've been using it to make avatars and stuff for a while now. Same process and all.

I've tried download your example avatar, uploaded as my own avatar. The forum change it to gif.
suggestion for you: upload your png to image hosting server, and use option 1 (Enter the URL to the Image on Another Website) in your avatar setting page
