they didn't do this at all. a bunch of people drew conclusions, which in fact they denied when questioned about it. it was never in any way stated by them that this had anything to do with masteria or any other content. as wrong as -hime- normally is, she made sure to specifically state that this has "never before been seen".

They knew that by not saying it isn't masteria related that people would assume it's masteria related, thus milking pre-existing popularity.
Please note that this notice references the barricade brothers. Not to mention the barricade looking fellow that we've seen multiple times since the calendar. If it wasn't for tespia, everyone would TOTALLY think this was a masteria expansion.

That doesn't support the thought that this content isn't masterian at all. It would have never been seen either way, so saying that we've never seen it before doesn't answer anything and it definetly doesn't make people think that this isn't masterian related.

oh my god. are you a conspiracy theorist? it doesn't take much to fool a fool. we all had our ideas about what this is but nexon never supported any of them, this is entirely on us. their denial was a denial, it wasn't reverse psychology. it's not on them. going by this logic, no matter what they had said they would've been pimping masteria.
"it's not masteria"
AH SO THEY'RE TRYING TO TRICK US HUH
"fine it is masteria"
WOOHOO WE'RE GETTING MASTERIA CONTENT
seriously.

It does not, your contruding it to what you want it to say. It says "Nothing like this has ever been seen before and no one knows what’s going on but barricades are being set up for ground defense and an air strike team is being mobilized"
Nothing about the Barricades.

Despite how many times Hime has been wrong, the whole concept of reversing her comment to be taken as truth is totally stupid. I'm CERTAIN Hime was trying to trick us into thinking it was Masteria content, since negligence means reverse psychology. RIGHT. As for the use of the word 'barricade', really? It means a barrier, and hey, a heavy part of this event involves sneaking around past the aliens, I'm sure the idea of protecting a crystal is connected to two orange-haired fellows. And you lastly mentioned that there's another orange-haired fellow in this patch. Frankly, I never made any Barricade family connection with him till Southperricans like you acclaimed of it. Orange hair means nothing. Get over it. >_>

There's nothing to get over. Should i remind you that we already know what's in this patch?

anyway, i'm so excited for this as long as it's not a temporary event. i hate temporary events; especially ones with godly prizes like this. it's going to be cake vs. pie all over again and i hate being afraid to leave henesys in fear of missing something i really want.

Evidently not. I'd imagine it to be a joint effort actually, with TMS making the dragon ball thing, but whatever.

Takebacker Wrote:Except a lot of these things are already successful if you compare to other games. The "real time" thing will probably only be successful if they tie in what they said about time travel, so that when the event is over you can go back in time and do everything in the event again and again. That won't really be a successful idea if the weapons and such expire though. >_> What shouldn't have been done was build hype by milking the existing popularity of exclusive content, only to release this which has nothing to do with any of it. When planning the concepts for this, it should have been something tested with an expansion to something that already exists. If they released episode 2 with all of this new stuff, they could test their s'hit while expanding on something already "successful". Those players who actually thought something of this place have only been put down, without getting really excited for this because it all EXPIRES and therefore sucks complete ass.
Also, the "Ultimate visitor" boss sucks. It's too weak to be any fun against a party (33m HP is not that much even for one person after releasing potential), yet too strong to be solo'd for most classes because of it's extremely high damage and KB. The only redeeming factor of this boss is that it gives twice the exp BF does, and that's not really that great because we don't know how available this boss will be to kill. Of course, if the VIP weapons drop from him and they DON'T expire, i take back what i say.
You totally missed the point. This event is about testing innovative activities IN Maple. Yeah there are other MMOs with day-night cycles but that's irrelevant because we want to see if it's possible in the constructs of the client they have. Think about what's happened when they tried new things with permanent additions:
* Boomers replicating when damaged. Neat idea. Unfortunately, major flaw in that poisoning them caused them to replicate endlessly and created major server lag. Couldn't be done so they had to change it. Wouldn't it have worked better if they tested replication on a timed event map where the amount of lag a single FP mage could generate was limited?
* Bigfoot. The idea was that he would be a boss monster, but not flagged as a boss, so that you could use things like freeze, stun, whatever to help in dealing with him. Unintended side effect: Poisoned by FP mages and shadow web allowed him to be killed in seconds resulting in ridiculous leveling speed. If this were something else that didn't give as much EXP, something temporary or in a special event map which could have access cut off, then it wouldn't have been as much of an issue. Instead they had to cut the EXP down to nothing and that hurt the people who were trying to kill it legitimately. Eventually it ended up so that only 2 or 3 classes could fight it effectively.
Point is, this way if it goes well, they can use what they learned here to make more interesting permanent areas in the future. If it doesn't go well, we aren't stuck with a permanent area built on a broken premise.
Keep in mind they never said anything about it being Krakia or whatever. That was our assumption based on the information at hand. We had absolutely nothing pointing to this so we had no way of guessing it right. All we knew was: A. This is a new area. and B. It was made by GMS and technology themed. Based on that the logical conclusion was that it would be Krakia. It's pretty ridiculous to try to say that they're manipulating our expectations to build hype for something else. Let's face it, the vast majority of the player base is completely unaware of Krakia at all. There's no reason to think nexon would want to play with the .5% that has heard of it.
The only thing to legitimately complain about here is that they're doing their real-time "miss one day and you're screwed" event right when most of their players have to go back to school or college.

A good chunk of it was NOT in ThaiMS data, which means that Nexon America probably expanded on the idea. They most likely collaborated with Asiasoft to make the area. ThaiMS however, can probably get other parts of the event later with future patches. The idea/concept I have to say originated in ThaiMS as all the strings point to it being a ThaiMS (event) area.

Yeah, sucks to be someone who happens to be busy in the next 3-4 weeks. I'm definitely gonna be without an internet connection for at least a week of that time, which hopefully is not enough to permanently pineapple me out of the level 127 weapons.
I guess I should be happy all this stuff expires, cause I know I'll never be able to get it if it takes any actual playtime. Nobody on Tespia screenshotting any of the gear at all makes me kinda doubtful.

This, especially now that my 7 year old craptop's fan has finally decided to break down, resulting in my craptop suddenly shutting off by itself when it overheats. I hope I can find a new laptop before the patch is released, and especially before my Fall Semester starts about two weeks from now...
The other thing I might complain about are the statless weapons completely breaking the game, although if they do expire like mentioned earlier in this thread, then I don't see much else wrong with this patch aside from it being an event. I'd hope that they release Hob King PQ alongside this as well, although since it wasn't in Tespia, I suppose it won't be released this month.
