Right...wasn't reading.

Why are the 40%s an issue again?

hm? that's not what i meant, sorry. an example would be... owl stickers vs. peanut things. owl stickers have probability within the data (i assume, prior events of that type did) while peanut machine values cannot be extracted. the stickers have clientside probabilities, they would require a patch to change. peanut machine prizes can be changed via their servers at any time.

at least, this is what i've picked up from viewing such discussions in the past.

@coogi: yes, they cannot change the scrolls without a patch as they are in the client data. removal of cassandra would be a very drastic method of fixing the abuse if nexon deemed it problematic. i am sure there are other paths they could take to remove the nameless scrolls from being given out as well, but the npc removal (and therefore inability to complete the quest and gain the item) is the only method i'm familiar with and know would work with complete certainty.

Why would they change the probabilities of one item in an event that basically guarantees that you get one.

sorry, still not what i meant. the probabilities being in the data would tell us if it can be removed without a patch. i was furthering my example to explain that point to you as you responded to me with something that... well... didn't make any sense in regards to what i said. i'll try to break it down a little further.

if the unnamed scrolls are guaranteed as a quest reward 100% of the time, it can't be changed without a patch (or without the removal of cassandra, or some other drastic serverside method)
if the unnamed scrolls have a probability of being a quest reward and the probabilities are shown as such in the data, similar to owl stickers, it cannot be changed without a patch (or without the removal of cassandra, or some other drastic serverside method)
if the unnamed scrolls have a probability of being a quest reward but the probabilities are NOT shown in the data, they are serverside and can be changed (so that the unnamed scrolls are no longer available, thus ending the abuse of creating accounts to trade them in for 50% scrolls)

i hope that's clear enough for you.

You get the 40% scrolls 100% of the time. As soon as you do your first job advancement, you get a scroll for your class. (Arans get 2h Weapon for Att, Evans get 1h Weapon for M.Att, etc) It's not random, and doesn't have a probability.

Looks like some other Nexon games may be having some trouble with something...

Inb4 people assume the worse as a roll back that will never happen.

Don't forget ALL Nexon games are going though the SC not just MapleStory.

13 hour SC. Awesome. Looks like Nexon is having some internal issues since all the games have been extended by 6.5-7+ hours.

Why do they even do all these checks at the same time?

Hey I know I have no insight in the inner workings and it's probably way more time-effective company-wise, but I only play maplestory so idgaf about the other games, lol. (don't take the text above here serial you guysh)

If they house all the games in a central area, it would make sense to take all the games down and check each game's hardware and such.

If you had a room full of dogs who were hungry, you wouldnt take them out 1 at a time to feed them would you?

Something major must have come up if they went from 6 hours to 13 hours for the SC. :f6:

Coogi Wrote:Wrong, it says Cassandra will stop giving them out. People aren't getting them from Cassandra they re getting it for making a Aran which they said nothing about I'm sure they know and it seems they really don't care.

I'm aware of this, but it sure seemed like the intention was to stop spreading the scrolls at all and if they're going to be sloppy and leave a hole in their plot, of course people are going to jump in and take an advantage. Nexon isn't completely ignorant, and if you're such the Nexon Lover, you'd ought to know that. They'll probably fix something connected to this issue without announcing it, it won't be the first time. Especially in Maple's recent past.

Edit: Maple's up guys, it apparently completed about 20 minutes ago based on the Nexon site. And I see no end to the lag spikes.
