Unscheduled Server Maintenance 07.21.2010 Wednesday, July 21, 2010

The way it works is that those of us previously tradeblocked are now frozen at the state where we were last night. So I could drop everything in my inventory, relog to roll myself back and restore all my items, and see everything I dropped there floating on the floor. People could potentially abuse this like crazy by having a friend/mule stand where they logged off last night and continuously drop entire inventories of stuff for the friend.

rollback now isn't as threatening as before... i just lost 1 hours worth of stuff, but better than uber influx of stuff

rhpot03 Wrote:Duping is actually healthy to the current economy. There's way higher demand than there is supply thanks to hackers. But nexon won't like it when they do the next gold box event

Hackers increase the supply. Back when hackers vacced at Lucidas(?), a lv 70 sword dropped all the time. Hackers mass sold these in the FM. Then hackers started getting banned and their hacks patched. Supply plummeted, because the maps were un-trainable, for legits anyway.

Watch them not make a rollback and don't fix half of the bugs.

The faith I have in Nexon's competence tells me that if this C ends at 6PM PST, then they will not have fixed the Duping glitch.

They Should just retradeblock everyone and deal with it properly. Cause I'm not sure how long I can resist the temptation to take advantage of this in light of how much they've taken from me >_>

They should rollback the entire database to last night, when the servers went down to patch. Then go over the records with a program to make sure NX purchases from the past day went through. After that's done, they should unhellban everyone and proceed to fix the glitches.

That's what they should be doing during the server check. If they take the servers down for a day and a half, but fix everything, no one will complain.

No one? I'd be really, really impressed with the community.

And by "no one", I mean less than 5% of the community.

Ah, typical Nexon. I'm glad they're doing something even when they still suck hardcore doing it.

Did the PB banning get lifted?

Then you can't expect them to be competent with their promises. I guess the next PB run will be interesting.

They should just copypasta everything from KMS and don't ever attempt to do anything themselves =X we all know how that ends... every major glitch on the game comes from GMS creating content.

I'm not sure that's even possible after a patch. I assume the restore point starts at the release of every patch.

they did just copy pasta everything from KMS. which also results in the mass glitches (i.e. the durability one).

600m htp, 400m zerk30, and 500m mw20 say hello

Who cares about level 70 monster drops when we can maker everything better, it's the high-end stuffs that count. The HT drought is taking a tow on gms, inflating the items to ridiculous prices. The increased demand from summer is not helping the situation either.

Duping will increase the supply to match the demand, thus lowering the price. More people will be willing to spend their meso to purchase the items.

More currency flow between hands = good economy

I kinda doubt there will be a rollback in all honesty.I can see them removing dupe items but not a roll back.

There are two parts to MapleStory: The server files and the database. Files are updated then and again, during SCs and patches. The DB saves itself after everything in the game happens. Clearing database backups, which should happen every few hours or daily, after a patch would be a really stupid thing to do. If I were running a server, I would delete them no sooner than 1 week, depending on the size of the database and how much space I have available.

Oh, HT Hackers don't do anything? I was under the impression they actually killed it. If they just hold it all day to troll yea, they would pineapple the economy over.

With any luck, then, they won't be able to spread themselves between HT, Chaos Zakum and CHT, so parties can get one of the three working again.

For the record, the lv 70 deal was pre 4th job, premaker. I want to say 2006.

Yeah, but that's not a major glitch. I was thinking more about the lines of...

GM Scrolls from Masteria, auto-bannings from Hackshield.. and even thousands of Chaos Scrolls from the rock spirit event. Have them make just a little edit to KMS content and it willl end ugly.

I'm not sure what the problem with mass Chaos Scrolls is. The more the merrier.

If you want a sure-fire way to boost your stats, go with a scroll. If you want to take risk, go Chaos, Potential and Enhancement.

Chaos being hard to get helps no one. Potential is already easy for everything, albeit supporting of CS hoaring and time consuming. Enhancement is rare, so it adds a nice bonus to those who have the money.

This makes money useful, but not a requirement for scrolling anything. I think it's a nice balance.
