Dear Maplers,

As part of the resolution of the meso exploit, we will be removing all exploited mesos from the Maple economy. This also includes the removal of mesos from trade blocked players who may have innocently come across the exploited mesos. We greatly apologize for this but we must remove the exploited mesos to minimize its impact on the current and future state of the Maple economy. Legitimately earned mesos will not be affected as we have a clear indication of which mesos were exploited. Trade blocked players will be released upon this week’s update. Due to the inconveniences that have been caused, players who are released from the trade block will be compensated.

Non-trade blocked players were not subjected to the investigation and will not be affected by this resolution.

Thank you for your time and support as we strive to make MapleStory a safe place for all.

Maplers,

We wanted to provide a strong reminder to our players to please avoid interacting with others who may be using this exploit, and definitely please avoid attempting the exploit yourself. We are working on addressing this issue, and we're also able to track the exploit. Accounts that are intentionally using the exploit will be suspended or possibly banned. As we've said before, there's no such thing as a free lunch, and if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Once again, thank you as we work on keeping MapleStory safe for all.

Dear Maplers,

Recently, we were alerted to a rise in mesos being introduced into MapleStory through an exploit. We have fixed this exploit and are actively working on stopping the spread of these mesos by investigating those who were involved. Players who used the exploit and those who are directly associated with it have been banned. We understand some players may not be directly associated but may have potentially obtained some mesos or have had their items bought with illegitimate mesos in the Free Market. These players have been trade blocked to prevent the spread of the exploited mesos. We assure you the trade block is temporary and will only remain in effect as we investigate. It is not permanent. Current players that are not trade blocked will not be subjected to the investigation or further action. You are safe to sell and buy from the Free Market without the repercussions of this exploit. We will reach a resolution shortly. If you feel you have been mistakenly blocked, please send us a ticket through our support system immediately.

Also, as a safety precaution to the exploit please keep these tips in mind.

- Do not take large sums of mesos from strangers.

- If a player offers you something that sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

- Avoid suspicious players and offers. Suspicious players try to off load non-legitly obtained items to avoid getting caught.

Thank you as we work on keeping MapleStory safe for all.

This is actually for the old exploit, they haven't said anything about the new exploit yet. It's funny how they said it was safe to buy and sell like just before the new exploit went rampant.

Didnt the new one happen last night? I think they caught this exploit rather early. Didnt the old one last 2 days or a day?

When the f`uck did Nexon give a rat's ass about the economy? People who glitched the mesos don't get affected AT ALL by this. Just everyone else.

It's just ironic how people gave Nexon credits for working dilligently, took their words for it and got raped yet again within 24 hours.

And there you have it, people with duped mesos lose that money AND any valuable items from this, while the people that actually abused the exploit most likely keep the valuable items at the end, it's amazing how people can still praise nexonAM after seeing this.

At least we didn't have the game shut down all together. I appreciate Nexon's work, really. And I disgust myself for having said that, but I would still say it again, given the chance.

I think having the game go offline for 2 or 3 days while they work it out properly would be better in the long run. "hey guys, there's a meso glitch, shut down the game for half a week!" Bam. Nip it in the bud right there.

Then they compensate everyone with a total of 20 hours of 2x or something, spread out over a weekish. Everyone wins.

Can someone explain to me what the Meso Exploit was all about then?

Was it packet editing or something else?

New exploit was this: When you wanted to donate 100 Griffey Horns, you could by using some packet technique, gain 100 horns instead.

I most likely missed something here, isn't that what the rollback is for?

*watches self look stupid just by asking that*

Are you certain that's all it was? Because even if you filled your entire etc with horns, it couldn't be worth more than a few million (though I'm not sure what horns NPC for). Then you have to go to the store and click a hundred times to sell it all. Then go back to Tatamo and repeat. You would have to do this hundreds of times to equal the max mesos from doing the prevous hack just once. I can't see hackers going to that much effort. Especially when they were apparently clearing out FMs in short order.

Edit: OK did the math HS says horns sell for 170mesos x 200 per slot * 28 slots = 952,000 mesos. So that means >2000 trips back and forth between Tatamo and store to get max mesos. I don't think so.
