EDIT: Don't be dismayed by the date of his last update; he doesn't date the comic by the date of upload, but rather the date he scheduled for that strip to be released. As you can see, he's a bit behind.
A number of Tim's strips have shown to be copies of lesser known comics and to also steal their punchline humor. After the abrupt abortion arc was introduced, people began to look into it and find even more plagiarism in his work.

---
I find
Multiplex to be a humorous comic about movies, with a little bit of work life and romance mixed into it.
Gunnerkrigg Court is a polished fantasy comic that incorporates several mythological elements and juxtaposes it with technological marvels. The story is driven by suspense and mystery. Even though later pages have gradually begun to lose effect as more mysteries are uncovered about the Court and its relationship with the mischievous Coyote.
Mac Hall is a quirky webcomic about college life... for gamers. The comic contains lots of humor and focuses mostly on campus life. The comic is no longer updated because Ian and Matt have both graduated. The new comic they are working on is called
Three Panel Soul.
For reasons similar to Mac Hall,
Johnny Wander is also a wonderful read. Even though there is no emphasis on game references, there is explicit focus on roommate bonding and the social festivities that entail.
Every comic usually tries to fill in a unique niche in order to draw in a target audience.
Shortpacked! is targeted towards young adults who still remember the good times they had playing around with an industrial sized Megazord, action figures of the Justice League, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and even Voltron.
The following comics aren't bad in their own right. It's just that I've lost touch with them and don't really care about them as much as the aforementioned comics: (a) Angst Technology, PhD, and Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal. (b) Dreamland Chronicles. ©
