Post an image that you think of when you read this.

So, 'bout to post a shameless request. I had to write a responsive poem for English, and the problem is that the person before me wrote an apocalyptic scenario. This made me think of this, so I wrote it. However, I can't find a good image to attach to it.

Anyways, here it goes.
Me irl Wrote:What is going on?
Confusion overtakes us
Logic thrown away
Do not try to understand
Truth is nowhere to be found

When I read this, I think surreal imagery. When I think of surreal imagery, I think of my Yume Nikki folder, which has a lot of surreal imagery in it that's not too over the top surrealism.

 Spoiler

Okay, stopping here before I open up other folders and start going on an uploading spree.

Fuking no with the Anime.

Surrealism doesn't look surreal with fuking anime.

If I post more Dali, I'd be approaching the porn ban lol.

Only, it isn't anime, and I can't really see how that image you posted pertains to the poem. Then again, it is your own interpretation after all.

First image in my post to show up with any hint of an anime art style is the 4th image. In fact, my first post only has 2 images with anime-styled art. One of them is kinda borderline, but I'd accept interpreting that as anime art style.

2nd post has quite a few though.

Surreal art is to seem so bizzare and weird yet so close to hyper realism that it comes off that it could in fact be real somewhere.

Not creepy anime girls with knives and loldarkscary settings.

There are images I posted that can fall under this.

Tay Wrote:Not creepy anime girls with knives and loldarkscary settings.

Most of them aren't supposed to be creepy or loldarkscary. If it makes you feel better, perhaps I should have labeled them as "abstract" instead, though when I think abstract I have slightly different imagery in mind. Less focused on the objects in the image and more on what your mind can make with the image.

Surreal. Surreal art doesn't have to use "realistic colors" if that's what's bothering you.

Or would you deny this is surreal?

The following image is surreal, and can be viewed as having an anime art style:

You can't explain art to someone. Art is in the eye of the beholder. You do not decide what is art and what's not. That's the beauty of it. If you think you can, then it is you who doesn't know art.

^You're trying to tell me that this does not use realistic colour?
I think you've been looking at too much anime and not enough of the real world to even make that decision if you're going to try and tell me real colours don't exist in that painting.

And when I said art, I was refering the to the subclass of Surrealism.
The mona lisa is art, yet not surrealism. There has to be some type of definition to art, regardless of what you say.

HAHAHA.

Tay, that image there? That's the image used as an example of surrealist art in my World History textbook. It is literally the textbook example of surrealism.

Exactly BTA....

I'm just butt hurt that this kid tried to claim that crap as surrealism.

Wait, wait, I misread, but I think you did too. Spidey said:

But you replied:

Correct, art can fall in many categories. The very nature of art itself is opinionated. I found it rather stuck up for Tay to say he'd "explain art" to me. Reminded me of my pretentious art teacher from elementary who was butthurt because his art degree couldn't get him anywhere but a job telling kids to paint what he wants them to paint.

Because we all know there's just one strict definition of art, right?

Though, I do get what he's saying. When he thinks surreal art, what comes to his head seems to be famous pieces, so why would anything that doesn't look similar to those pieces ever be grouped with them? Like music, there are certain aspects of visual art that they can be categorized by. This doesn't mean an image has to strictly fall under one category, but every image can certainly fit in at least one.

Curiously, I'd like to know what genre of art you'd group my images in, Tay. Don't say "anime" because that's not a genre of art, that's an art style (but even that can be split up into sub categories and debated, but I'd rather not digress into that.)

To my understanding he's trying to say that that painting didn't use real colours.
Because if he's defining surrealism to not need real colours, then attempting to claim Melting Time as a surreal picture under that definition and then asking if I agree with that definition then having the audacity to even ask me if I thought that was surreal or not, he's obviously wrong.
he/she/it/whatever.

I'd have to group that as cartoony crap that gets people like you off at night.
No just kidding. It doesn't seem to have meaning, just a cartoon of some setting that all share a common scene or idea with no higher thought.
