Changing account email address
#1
Hi southperry Poast

In december my secondary account was hacked (not random hackings, someone found my email on another forum, cracked the password and found my birthday/first name then proceeded to recall every piece of information regarding the maple account to my email).
I logged a ticket to Nexon immediately (while I still didn't have access to my email) asking for a full info change including email. They replied after about 2 weeks saying 'sorry, but you're not eligible for an email change if you can't access the email you registered with'. By the time they had replied, I had regained full control to my email address and changed the password/secret question on it and the password/pin to my MapleStory account. I logged another ticket explaining that I had regained full control to my email and that I should be eligible for an email change now since I could verify the account was infact mine.
They replied, again, after about 2 weeks. Same reply as before. I was not eligible. I replied for a third time explaining in close detail how I could get on my email account and I recited my full MapleStory account information in the ticket, and yet they replied after about 3 days saying that I still wasn't allowed an email change 'for the same reason as the last two tickets' and that it is 'unacceptable to keep logging tickets about this case'.

What the Pineapple?

How am I supposed to contact Nexon if my tickets are 1.) not being read, and 2.) being closed with an auto reply almost threatening me to not log tickets about it again?

Here are the replies I got if anyone cares:

 Spoiler

What can I do? Apparently trying to secure my Nexon account is unacceptable.

PS. Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I wasn't sure if it should go here or not.

Just forward all your emails to another email account. If your using msn you will be able to do this for free, if you have yahoo it cost $19 to upgrade your email account

I'm having the same problem =_=

I mean, if they were able to crack through your email once, they could do it again. I'd rather have it changed to an unknown email. If we do this forwarding thingy, and the email gets hacked, the cracker can just as easily stop mails from being forwarded right?

Yes they can, but lets say i'm a hacker the first thing i'm going to do is request a password change asap. Seeing that i have your email i'm going to look for the email from nexon. I'm not seeing it so i'm out of lluck for the day seeing that i can only request a password once. This gives you enough time to look at your email see that a password change was sent to you and act accordingly to keep your account safe. During this time you will have to gain access to your old email.

@god to be eligible for an email change you have to be bff with him like bboart is

I don't see how that would help though, unless there is a way to forward all incoming emails to a new account as soon as they are recieved?
The hacker would still be able to get the info reset email then have access to the account =/ I'm not even sure why I'm 'ineligible' for an email change because the first ticket said I just needed to access my email.. which I now can. :|

Can't. Nexon sucks. At least I had better luck than you, though.

Greetings ClawofBeta,

Thank you for contacting Nexon America's Customer Support team.

As a policy, we do not change email addresses on any accounts though there is a chance for a rare exception. In order for us to consider an email address change, we need to be able to verify your account information without any errors. Please note that you cannot have two Nexon accounts registered with the same email address.

Please provide the following account information. Please make sure that it is 100% correct and complete before submitting:

Account ID:
Forum ID (if applicable):
Name (First and Last):
Birth date:
Answer to Secret Answer 1 (What is the name of your best friend?):
Registered email address:
New email address:
Reason for the email change:

If you do not remember any of the required information, I am sorry to inform you that I will not be able to help with your issue. Once I have verified this information, I will determine if I will proceed with the request.

Be advised if you no longer have access to the registered email address because of a lost password, or lost email account due to inactivity then it is your responsibility to contact the email service provider to regain access to your account. Email change requests for these reasons will not be considered.

Sincerely,

GM Jascol
Nexon America, Inc.

Unfortunately, I fall under the very last paragraph. Sucks.

Nexon will only change e-mail addresses for people who lost the e-mail due to a change in ISP. So in plain English, you can't unless you used a pay-to-use e-mail and the e-mail is now cancled.

I changed my ISP. Nexon didn't change my email.

That is excatly what forward email is, as soon as its sent it goes to the email you setup. When you forward your emails to another account it doesnt show up on the old email, its automatic the same way if you changed numbers and ask for all received calls to be sent to your new #.

Also your talking in a sense that your email is going to get broken in to easily again. If thats the case wouldnt it be the same for your new email? All your new email is a diffrent name and password, by having a strong password at least it should help prevent it.

Alright thanks, is it possible to forward only emails from a certain address (i.e. @nexon.net/@support.nexon.net) or can it only be done with every email you recieve?

K i just tested this. Emails that are verified to be sent to your inbox will be the only one forwards. So that means junk mail will not be forwarded, if you just want nexon mail sent your going to have to mark all the mail you usually get in your inbox to spam and just leave nexon mail as the only one.

Example:I get mail from southperry in my inbox, now i mark it as spam so all southperry mail will go in junk mail. I only have nexon mail as verified mail to go in my inbox.
