how can you get into social circles?

dude, just dont. everyone has an awkward phase; pomegranate im still in my own.

try to find people that have the same interests. and i dont mean "OMGOMG NARUTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" or any other generic BS like that. like, go to a place where people gather and talk about crap that isnt crap, think the boat docks, and just start a conversation with some people. but dont be stupid about it. while i played on my DK, i wouldnt mind having a conversation with the other person if they started it, but if someone asked me a stupid question/wanted something ridiculous, i flat out ignored them. start out with a broad question, then narrow it down. if you get to a point where you dont know what the other person's saying or talking about, BS. BS the hell out of them. it takes practise, but after a while you'll be able to hold a conversation about pomegranate you dont even understand.

You don't need to socialize, it's just a distraction from the main goal of this game(being level 200). Just open the game and kill monsters non-stop until you are 200. Forget about everyone else because it's all useless. Play on your own.

Knowing you are srs about this its pretty funny. but ooh well the main goal of this game always was having fun for me.

I never had trouble meeting people... every time I see a Paladin they're like "holy **** I know you" and I don't recognize them and then we talk for a bit. I guess there are a lot of WK/Paladins on Basil or something.

... i was just saying that you, as you said, arent great with people. I was inferring that from your hyperness and thinking there is a strategy or some great mystery in making friends. I'm more or less a shut in, and i know to make friends you just interact with other people, in game that varies from PQ's to training parties to always taking boats on channel 1 and talking to people who are there. Some will want/agree to buddy you, some wont. I know i personally dont like buddying random people, but i do it on occaison, and it works out well.

And running around hene going "J> Guild@@" or w/e might get you into a mildly active guild, but its more likely to get you into random hene-ho guild, which means no one in it will level, and from what you've said, i think you are trying to find a guild that might be able to do stuff other then talk... like go to bosses and have training parties and stuff. Honestly I'd recommend just go PQing, and maybe try to meet people that way, or just grind until higher levels and try to get into guilds/BLs that way. The high level social circles all know each other because they were training together, more or less.

I think the best way to make friends is the act nice to people you meet while training. They'll usually ask to buddy you. Also be cool and like don't ask too many questions. I'm more of a solo player myself, but I love solitude. :p

How hard is it to start a conversation with a person online? Socializing (or e-socializing) should be as easy as riding a bicycle. And FYI acting like a childish goon won't make you any friends. Any mature friends anyway. If you think there's some sort of method that normal human beings use to socialize, then I pity you. Good luck finding friends that can give you 1m for your financial needs.

Looking at your posts from SW, the only friends you've had was the one who gave you money. You basically answered your own questions too. Make friends in PQ? PQ with strangers. Train with? Train somewhere and ask for a party. There is no reason that you cannot make any friends. NO reason. Everyone can make friends. Find people more like you. Look for the childish, annoying, clueless type. You'll match.

It's not rocket science, even the socially awkward can be a star in the world of Maple Story.

On JMS...I don't even know how I'm pulling off making friends, mostly from doing Dojo. Then there are people interested in English or find my broken Japanese amusing. But people are people....


Just remember, everyone has one thing in common on Maple Story and that IS Maple Story...we're all a bunch of Maple Story nerds.

umm I made my first friend on GMS by basically having fun, I thought MS was a cute looking game and I use to spam the F5 expression while killing at HHG1. I met someone who was the same age as me at the time, another college student with not much else to do and we hit it off. ; ; I wonder if she still plays? Then like I dunno, people from PQs then guildmates. And so on.

I rember when I had my fail of a swordsman character I had a similar experience. This archer and myself trained a lot at pig beach together. He went off and made a mage and never got around to adding me on it... eventually i gave up on my warrior bc of its fail stats and made my FP. On my FP doing the Johns Pink Flower Basket jq I met one of my best MS friends EVER. We we did that JQ together. Telling each other tips to getting it done. Saw her again turning in our quests and we talked about our plans for these characters ect ect... then we started just jking around and talking. Ahhh the good old days =/ L4> Cynthia to come back to MS.

I think you're watching too much Naruto, and copying Gaara's lines. But if you're not, then you have a very ..awkward, yet blunt perception of the world.

PS: On a more serious note, meet people with common interests. The only way I got to know my friends was because I met them along the way as I played the game. On my BL, I've had my shares of lv 200's in Scania.. some I rarely talk to, and some I talk to almost every day, because they're in the same guild. I also have extremely-lower leveled friends that I talk to on a daily basis as well, when I played actively. MS is sorta boring when you're playing by yourself. All it is = hit monsters, get EXP, level. Yeah, ok, if I wanted to do that, I'd be playing Legend of Dragoon.

And about bashing the guild, i've had several people bash it on BL. Heck, half my buddylist is filled with former members who hate "what its become".

I know what you're saying. I had people delete me off BL because they hated the guild I'm currently in. Imo, those people aren't your true friends and you're better off without them. Friendship shouldn't be based on what guild you may be in.
