Why do you play Maple?

I pretty much lost my interest in levelling in MapleStory in about 2006/7. So I don't really grind anymore.

I just like to see what's new every month and try it out. I don't play it anywhere as much as I used to.

Maple first started out as a good way to relieve stress. I went through a really crappy time in late 2005/early 2006 and Maple was a great escape from it all. Now I just play for the fun. To be honest, I don't really know why I still play, I guess it's because I've been playing for so long. I haven't really lost all interest in it since Nexon does give enough new content to keep me hooked. There's also the social aspect. I've made friends that I've known for about 4 years now.

old friends really.I can stay hella long time but i can do like half of what i stay on tranining consistently. i get bored of 2 hours of grinding(solo) and 5 hours if im partying.

Two years ago, I would have been playing in Scania to help out friends, and participated in the intense leveling and questing competition I had with my two cousins. I had to quit shortly after 4th job was released due to a virus.

Shame, because I really wanted revenge on those easter eggs, because I just had to get suckered into starting MS while they were kicking all of our behinds. I'm sure that all of you that were around during the Easter Event of 2007 (or was it 2006?) know exactly what I mean.

During the past two years, my two cousins and my friends quit as well, due to differing reasons. My first cousin, as a Spearman, became bored without having anyone to compete with, and was ultra demotivated after seeing that Dark Knights weren't going to get any new attacks in 4th job. My idiot other cousin decided to be a script kiddie, and quit after Nexon went after that one site earlier this year. Friends got bored, hacked, scammed, real life caught up, etc.

I came back and started playing again yesterday, this time completely unfunded in Windia.

Oddly enough, I've remained in the MS community throughout the two years, mostly in the MSEA AsiaSoft forums. Now my primary reasons to play involve finally getting to experience stuff that I had been discussing with the MSEAers for the past year or so, and providing screenshots/personal experiences in GMS for the amusement of the MSEAers.

(...Because hardly a month goes by without a very brief argument in the prediction threads over at the AsiaSoft forums. Arguments about whether MSEA/AsiaSoft or GMS/Nexon is worse (with EMS recently joining the fray), while simultaneously worshipping KMS for everything besides those two theme dungeons. The way the arguments are done seems as if being part of the community that's worse off is something to be proud of.) :f6:

For the six figure salary and the attractive ladies.

Mostly because of the people I know.

I still play maple because I still find it fun to play, and it's free. I can't exactly pinpoint what exactly makes it fun for me, probably a combination of almost everything listed in the poll. Having fun is what playing a game is all about. It's really unfortunate when I see people who aren't having fun anymore yet still force themselves to play, turning it into more of a chore than a game.

It is free.

It has minimal requirements, so I can continue playing even if better machines get fked over the ass.

I wanted to see how the game in general evolved over the years. Social experiment, you could say, with no lab-like guidelines.

Socializing is always something to do =P

Last but not least, and I have to thank Nexon for this, it's a programming practice gold mine.
