It has become a way for me to relieve stress after my mom was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis(MS),oh the irony, but in itself it is a lot of fun. The social aspect is really nice, if you manage to find like minded individuals

I don't play Maple.
But when I did, I played for friends. When my friends all quit, I stopped playing. Well, no, when my closest friends I enjoyed playing with quit, I quit. There, rephrased. I don't care how strong my Night Lord was, or how funded I was, or how much money I spent on that damn game. But when I find the game boring because my closest friends no longer find any enjoyment in it, I don't see it as entertaining anymore either. So I ended up quitting.

A lot of my friends quit when private servers were big, and it took me a while to come back after that. Now I just play because it's a great time waster, and the less I focus on "omg 1337 damage", the more fun I have. I'm kind of a collection whore, so I've been working on getting new medals and such.
That and it's been easier now that I've got a guild of people my age and older, easier to relate IRL experiences with.

I used to be constantly depressed about damage and map availability, and even my own EXP gaining speed versus others; but I really don't care much about those anymore, and map availability has long since been solved.
I've been playing since January '06; and I'd just feel bad if all my hard work just gathered dust and left to die one day. While I used to level on a very irregular basis, I always convince myself to try leveling every now and then when I begin to get resolve when I set goals, like this year, I aim to hit 130 by the end of the year. I also find it hard to tear myself away, with the friends I've made in this game as well. I always seem to go through interest phases. Until I bought that 2X EXP card from the Black Friday sale, I hadn't trained in months; or played that much. But now, I'm logging on a daily basis. I go through phases of collecting and quests also. Sometimes, I have my interest elsewhere. On a few occasions, somehow, I have another interest I feel more like doing- like I've skipped some 2X EXP time for anime or gaming. During a few Mabinogi patches- particularly Pioneers of Iria patch and G7, I logged on Maple for a few hours once every 2 weeks.

Merchanting is the greatest thrill in MS. So is upgrading/scrolling! I love big numbers (I'm sure most of MS do too).

日本語 that's about it.
JMS is a bit more chill and laid back versus GMS. I quit GMS because I became very irritated with the ridiculous behavior of some the people...not only the kids but the ADULTS were fucking ridiculous as well. PEOPLE OLDER THAN ME...(I'm 22). Studying Japanese...wanna play an online game...Japanese Maple Story.

Pretty much this.
Once Nexon raises the level cap and gives us new areas in DFO Maple can go piss off.

I play for the social aspects and my friends, just because real life issues prevent me from going out like a regular teenager. :/

I'm not entirely sure. I enjoy the people I meet on Maple. The graphics and gameplay keep me interested. Aside from that though, I suppose it's a bit of an antidrug.

Hmm.. all I can think of:
1) Pass time
2) Get stronger/level up
3) Hang out with friends/guild
4) Bossing (sometimes)

I think that the reasons I play maple are just about the same as everyone elses: friends, fun, leveling. I think I'd quit Maple if a couple of people in my buddylist or guild quit playing (although I didn't quit LaTale for that, not permanentely, though that's a little different story), or if the game got really boring, but since I always find something to do, even if it's just doing a quest, hunting area bosses, or upgrading equipment (this is why converting to STR has been one of the most fun things in the game).
In the end, I see no reason to quit as long as the game is still fun to play and I still have enough time to play it. Until then, I play because I play.

Upgrade equips, level up, boss, chat
honestly, maplestory is more fun than going out, imo. I guess it just depends on the type of individual you are. I get enough talking and socializing out at work and school, after that I just wanna be antisocial or just type and not deal w/ ppl face to face. Being in sales kinda drains the want or need of talking or having a social life, b/c thats all you do for work. Its like a quota, thats been filled.
