Wow. I just totally burned the chicken.

I was used to the heat of my old barely working electric grill, not a real fire grill.

And now my chicken is burnt and I am sad.

Is it burnt like leather or burnt like "eww, grossness" but still edible?

Barely burnt, like, the burnt bits still taste good.

My pride has been shattered though.

Oh then that's not TOO bad. You just learned the (not-so-)hard way!

I, too, am sad for you(r chicken) though. :<

Sounds like the first time I tried to make rice on my stepmother's gas stove. The old rice/water ratio I used did not work, and it ended up being burnt and crunchy. I don't like gas stoves too much, except for Jiffy Pop.

I suppose I'm the only one who thought "choking the chicken gone wrong" when entering this thread?

I'm white so I don't have a rice-cooking 6th sense. It was also a different brand of rice.

I only started that right before I entered college since there was never anything in the house other than those pouches of microwaveable pasta (which weren't good at all).

And I love the rice. It's by far one of my favorite foods. Kikkoman soy with it is the way to go. Fried rice is also very good, except for the stuff the Asian place on campus has since it has far too much garlic in it.
