Is this scamming?

I accidentally added an extra "9" but i didn't feel like resetting my whole shop just to fix it and low-and-behold someone bought it... so is that scam or just the buyer being stupid...

No it is not. Not your fault the buyer was dumb / desperate for a Kage. If you have told them it was worth more beforehand, then yes, it is. But with the information given to us by you, the buyer was just desperate, or dumb.

Btw, you can just drag items out of your shop into your inventory, and then re-price it.

The buyer's stupid. I can't stand it when people screw up in the FM and blame it on the seller; it's every man for himself in there. I've run in to a couple of mistyped prices and reaped my rewards as the sellers bawwwed, but that's their own problem, and maybe experiencing it for themselves will help ensure that it won't happen again.

I was under the impression that he had already opened his store, not that he was pricing his store and mispriced, but meh.

A deal is a transaction between two people. Person A is paying for something that Person B has and a deal occurs when both decides to make such an exchange.

If you stuck an item overpriced in your store, then the said exchange would be your item for the price it's stuck up at. In your case, 32 mill for a 3 above avg Kage.

However, in that other thread, the seller was advertising his Beserk 20 as a Beserk 30, and that's where the scam comes in.

What you have is like selling your textbook for $100, but the guy gives you $150 instead. A scam would be saying that you're selling that textbook for $100, but giving them a book that looks like the textbook but instead has blank pages instead.

That wasn't really deliberate, and there was no bait and hook, so to speak.

Entirely his fault. Think of it the other way around. If you didn't know its price and sold it for 1k, and he buys it, he didn't scam you. You just put up a pretty dumb price for it, and it was entirely your fault. It's like that, only the tables are reversed. Entirely his fault.

There are people who are good at FM and do everythign from legit transactions to scamming. And there are people that just BUY in FM, and they hate stuff like this.

My answer is that this is all Nexon's fault. Nexon made the FM in such a way that you need NX for everything -- Mush shops, owls, chalkboards, Smegas to advertise huge items, etc. Gaia Online may be a $hithole, but its marketplace is very user friendly, and completely free. You simply list your item, it's right there with the same items by other sellers, and a person can freely search for it, compare the prices, and buy. I think on Gaia, Exchangers, (their FMers,) REALLY scam, because they actively create deceptive situations that exploit loopholes in the market system, but on Maple it's really really ambiguous because of the vastly differing levels of information various people come with.'

In this situation... honestly, if you CAME UP to a guy and offered this transaction, you'd be scamming. But when dealing with a store, the dynamic is different, so while this situation was unfortunate (for him) it's not scamming.

Still scamming. It's not about what the other guy knows/doesn't know, it's what you actively are trying to do with YOUR knowledge. If you're actively misrepresenting what you KNOW to be the price of the item, you just scammed a guy. How does the other person's knowledge have bearing on YOUR knowledge and choices of what to do with it?

If someone was like "I'll sell this for 3 mil," and i knew it was worth 6 I'd tell him. But yeah, most people wouldnt, and I was never really good at FM and I always sold through a store. But then, I am horrible wiht money in general. I gave away I think 5 billion mesos over my time on Maple, and most of that was when mesos were worth quite a bit. In any case, helping people without wanting stuff in return is a much different reward than having 60 billion mesos, and I gained the respect of many good people that way, so I have no regrets. Many people will use you if you're like that, but there was a small handful that didn't, and one year after I quit Maple they're STILL with me. Think about that.

Is it scamming if someone buys an insanely cheap item? No, it's the seller's fault. Is it scamming if someone buys an insanely expensive item without it being advertised as something else? No, it's the buyer's fault. Think before you commit.

This is suprisingly true in Maple, to the most extreme I have ever seen it. You can either be rich and get loads of money, or be poor and have loads of reputation as a nice person. Of course, there's still all these damn leeching whores who just take advantage of you because they don't even play the damn game.

To the TS I believe that is not scamming. It is just some desprerate person who cannot wait. If the person was smart he could've mtsed something to buy that kage for a cheaper price in the mts and waste like what 10-15m.

No he wouldn't be. This is all a part of marketing. If the buyer chooses to buy something without checking up on prices first, you're not screwing him over; he's screwing himself over.

Weapon prices are ambiguous and it would be impossible to browse the FM and know prices of them.
