I always had a...crap...forgot, but it had an ice move capable of freezing early on. I would build my strategy on freezing Miltank with cannon fodder and then swapping out for my heavy hitters.

Miltank is easy if you have a strong fighting type, or you want to be cheap and trade a Riolu egg over and evolve it into Lucario.. Heck, it even gives you an option to trade a Drowzee for a Machop (WHICH I AM DEFINITELY GOING TO DO).
Lucario would easily tear through that gym cause he LAUGHS at Rollout and if you have Aura Sphere, Miltank doesn't even stand a chance as its Sp Def is weaker than its uber high def..
-edit- I just got up to Whitney.. It took me three tries to beat her.. The first time, her Miltank kept FLINCHING MY MACHOP WITH STOMP and her pineappleing Clefairy got Energy Ball out of Metronome. The 2nd time, her Miltank's stomp did a critical hit >_> and killed my Machop. After that, I finally got the luck of the draw and took that fucking cow with two low kicks.

The only thing that kept my Quilava alive in that fight was that I had Paralyzed Miltank with Flaafy, and then spammed Sand Attack with Pidgeotto. xD
Though that didn't stop Miltank from spamming Milk Drink.

It's too bad this won't be released by december. I remember getting Gold for Christmas when it was brand spankin' new and it made my life. Actually for several years in a row my christmas games were Pokemon. I would phone and ask my dad to get me Heart Gold for christmas in a heartbeat even now.
Also I really wish GameFreak would make the uber-rares catchable in game. Even if they had to give them an impossibly low spawn rate (like that pineappleing ugly cheesebass) because it bugs me to no end that I can't catch 'em all without either cheating, going to some dumb event or sitting in a store with WiFi and being embarrassed, and then hoping some who has and is willing to trade them is actually online.
edit: did some research and found out if you download no$zoomer and run it, then run no$gba 2.6a and follow these instructions...
- First, open any game (HG or SS). Go to No$GBA --> Options --> Emulation Setup (or with F11). On the Reset/Startup Entry point choose GBA Bios (Nintendo Logo) and click OK.
- Now go to No$GBA options again and click SAVE OPTIONS. This way you won't have to do it everytime you start No$GBA.
you can play them at PERFECT speed and it stops freezing after oak. Still crashes though, so save and shut it down often (if you don't shut it off after saving the save doesn't stick)

There're some Ultra Balls in the Goldenrod Department Store, so you can try those.

Anyone having problems saving? I've tried it on multiple emulators (all set to auto-detect) and it always freezes during the save.

I'm not. When I save it freezes for about 5 seconds, then proceeds to saving.

Oh, crap. I did that on 2.6, and now my thing crashes everytime I use it, saying that it can't read the ROM image. >_____> Dang.
Anyways, what's the diff between No$Zoomer and No$Zoom? :f6:

No idea, the one I have is japanese so I can't even understand it. (no$zoomer, I mean.)
Make sure you put it in the same folder with no$gba

Ah well, I just got 2.6a downloaded off rapidshare, and looks like it doesn't crash, so it might be a problem with 2.6. Advanscene doesn't show what kind of save that SS/HG is, so I guess it's just trial and error to find the save type on No$.
I've heard that DeSmuME works, any confirmation on that?

Gah I hated Whitney's Miltank. I'm gonna be Gene Savvy for this version and transfer over my Pokemon from Platinum, including attaching an item to each one.
And Greg the bike theme is plain WIN.

DeSmuME does work, I'm currently using build 0.9.4. It uses quite a bit of CPU in the overworld though (that causes slowdowns).
On another note, it seems that your map reveals the locations of Entei and Raikou even if you haven't encountered them yet.

Hmm, thats good to know. However, you would be totally raped by them at that point of the game.
Plus, I caught my Abra on my 5th Great Ball and its already a Kadabra.

Uh....if you can catch a Diglett/Dugtrio/Wobbufett/Wynaut, then they can prevent Abra from fleeing with their abilities...I think...

Do you think they're available after/before getting the 3rd badge in HG/SS? I'm guessing no unless you trade one over...

Nah, probably not before, but definitely after. I know you can get Diglett...in Kanto.
But I'm surprised they're selling ultra balls so early.
