I'm going to have to roll my dice to gather enough charisma points to figure this one out.

Phrygian isn't sad. It's anger or seriousness. A lot of Metallica's songs are written in the phrygian mode.

Here's a prime example of the phrygian mode in use. Just listen to the angry rhythm guitar. This mode always makes good music to scream to.

Much of this song is in the phrygian mode as well (though it modulates in some parts to show it's not TOTALLY serious):

One more song - this time from Metallica in their song "Master of Puppets".

The phrygian mode becomes evident during this riff with the power chords at the end:

This is, in my mind, the best riff of the whole song.

Six years of playing several musical instruments and I learn what a phrygian scale is on a Maple Story forum.

I'm a geek for sure, but I don't understand that 'at all'. You said it's music-theory? No wonder. I'm not into musical-logic and what not. I'm more of a computer-geek. At first, looking at those numbers, I was thinking you're trying to confuse me with some binary or hex conversion, but that wasn't it.

Well, it's Fiel. He (and I, before Fiel mentioned music theory) made a logical assumption Rolleyes
