Guilds like VenG control scarce resources such as altar time and training areas. They monopolize these unfairly and they have an extremely bad reputation as a result. So they actually have an impact on the people around them. /b/ controls no resources, they're just fuucking around. On ED there's tons of racism, sexism, etc., but in the article on the KKK they pretty much note that the KKK are losers for actually MEANING it. /b/ will make fun of anything, including /b/, but I think most of it is just (tasteless) humor, not active e-thuggery.
