The Chronicles of Masteria [UPDATED 7/22/08]
So, we know 11 monsters are in this area. We have some names:

Bigfoot - Boss
Elder Wraith (These are mentioned in the ITCG description of Crystal Ilbi. Does anyone think they might drop Crystal Ilbi?)
Guardians
Menhir (Invincible Jump Quest Monsters. Who knows if these are included in the count.)

That's only 4 monsters we know off. One is a boss, one is invincible, and one is 120. We also see two monsters in the cave, and while the guy with the Spear may be a guardian, the other girl probably isn't. Also I'm surprised people aren't going bananas over humanoid enemies again.

Oh, and I have a theory on the Valley of Heroes: what if we only need to do it once? After completing it the first time, you get an ETC. badge of some sort, which will allow you to take an alternative path with no jump quest.

Crystal ilbi dropping would screw things up. And, isn't elder wraith an area boss in other versions?

I'm pretty sure the "staff is dancing stick" thing is a hint for a dancing broom monster. Or atleast, that's the first thing I thought of when reading it.

Big foot better have atleast 30m HP and be interesting like pap. Frown

The black Wraith in other versions is a bot catching monster, not an area boss.

Also, did anyone notice that monster seems to have a red version of the spear that old man NPC has?

The ridley NPC said "Walking stick" which many of the noobier staffs do look like. I just thought of Gandalf and lord of the Rings when I read that. Maybe a witch monster but I doubt it, we already have that in Malady.

yeah, there is a black wraith called Shade, which is a Bot-catching monster in the subway.

i noticed the similarity, hopefully this means that spear is a drop? XD

This also rules out the idea of two towns. I guess the ninjas really did take over Crimsonwood, and Ridley is just alive because he's a Magician and in the maple world, master magicians are essentially immortal (Grendel, Alcaster, etc.) But man, Ninjas, Medieval castle... X_X Does not compute.

Time to sell my Cilbis if thats true! lol

I hope that the JQ thingy is a once off. I couldnt stand having to do it every time I wanted to go to CC.

I bet when NxProse said this it got you salivating! Biggrin

Any hints on Masteria things after Crimsonwood Keep?

When they're available, do the quests.

Oh yes, that and 100 pages of quest text. <3 Anyone who just clicks through this is gonna get smacked upside the head. I'm not gonna tell anyone who doesn't read what to do. XD

It's a walking tree:

Edit: The meso-bags are flipped horizontally o.o

The tree could also be like the spikes in some maps of henesys, that they are not an actual monster.

No, Ridley says:
"I taught countless mages during my heyday—from talented ones like Rafael, master of the mind; not so talented ones, like that bunch of ruffians who thought a staff was a walking stick; and the odd, most notably LeFay, who was in touch with a kind of chaos magic..." - Ridley

He's talking about people who wanted to be magicians but were so un-talented that they couldn't use their magic staffs for anything other than walking sticks.

I also don't really think that's a monster, it seems more like a trap, similar to the poison vents in El Nath dungeon or Gophers in Leafre Forest. Or, maybe it is a monster, just an invincible one that only appears for a second, like the Mirror Ghosts in the mansion. Just less annoying. I can actually see using those as a means to avoid HH's more deadly attacks.

EDIT:
Oh, and if the map that the HH is found on in these screenshots were the same as our current one, then it would have to have HH's tombstone on it. We can see in this screenshot that his tomb isn't visible, even though the treeline indicates he's against the edge of the map. So they either moved the Tombstone, or put him on a new map.

Do we have a Phantom Forest Hunting(or is it Hollowed?) Ground 2 in Masteria already?

Just because the NPC in the map with headless horseman in our version has something to do with the boss, doesn't imply it has to be on the map in order for them to spawn. Rolleyes

I'd laugh if they were like gatekeepers though. Spawn like 40 seconds after you kill them, and mob. That'd be excellent experience for sure...

2x300k = 600k exp in around a minute = ...hell I'm not sure if that's equal or not, only time %. Tongue

Also, Frown @ the flipped bags. Maybe that's what you get if they're over 10k? That could give you a new way to tell how much meso it is.

The map HH spawns on is called "Hollowed Ground" and the street Name is Phantom Forest. Here it's PFHG2 (Which would seemingly be Phantom Forest Hollowed/Hunting Ground(s) 2) but the road name is Masteria. That's strange, to me. Also this map apparently houses HH, but there's gonna be several flat forest maps on the way to Crimsonwood.

Wow, so this map has HH too? Maybe they just moved him. O_O

"In his last letter, Jack wrote that after weeks of wandering in circles in the haunted Phantom Forest, he’d made it to the base of Crimsonwood Mountain, and was standing in the fabled Valley of Heroes! But this last letter was dated a few months ago, and frankly, I’m beginning to get a little worried..." - John Barricade

Will the keep have hidden streets? Surely an awsome keep must have a load of secrets.

Hidden things? Oh yes. There is something to be said about paying attention to detail.

Just think how much fun it would be if the maps were like you said Kaede Castle was.

Not really important, but I just wanted to point this out:

Those are some pretty bad ass emblems. Or, maybe they aren't classes, they might be StormCasters, Bosshunters, WindReavers and...?

Stormcasters are supposed to be Warriors and mages, while Windreavers are Archers and Assassins, so it makes sense to have those two jobs on one side, and the other two jobs on the opposite side.

I'm looking at the Phantom Forest screens and I see that they're mostly off of the PFHG2 map.

See that one tree... The one that seems to stick out? It doesn't have the same lighting as the others?
It looks like the same one that's attacking in this screenshot. It might be possible to pick out the attacking trees in this way.

No love for Bandits, huh? Maybe we belong into the "ShadowKnights" (if those are even a group), along with Pirates? : O

I guess we'll find out more when we get our hands on those juicy quests, weapons and NPCs.
