Can I get some filmers and NX specialists?
#1
As those who came from Basil most likely know already, I've been spending some of the past 6 months working on making characters for a pair of all-jobs videos (one for 3rd job, one for 4th). Well, now that my academic year is over and I'm taking the month off, I intend to go back to this project. In fact, I've finished making about a third of the characters I'll be needing for this project.

Yes, it is on one of those "alternate" servers, and yes, I'm aware of the legality or lack thereof of those servers. But it's the only method by which I can make the videos since all of the 18 characters would literally take over a decade to build on GMS, and having different people's characters in the videos would inherently fail to ensure fair and equal treatment for all jobs. The video will not be advertising the servers, meanwhile. Any mod can choose to delete all references to it if they choose, including this thread, but it's really up to you to decide whether the method by which the videos are being made outweighs the community finally having an *accurate, unbiased and practical* response to the "What job should I be?" maniacs on the other forums.

Anyway, now here's the situation. Basically, I have good control over all of the characters, but the problem is that I can't run fraps. My computer can't even run Horntail, actually. So I'm trying to gather filmers who can run fraps entirely without lagging, who have excellent control over one or more types of character, and who would be willing to temporarily download v.62 and one of those servers to help me film. So far I already have filmers for the warriors (Fynl, with Chubb519 as backup), the bowmen (Kevvl14), and possibly the pirates. That means I need filmers for the thieves, mages and possibly the pirates. If you fit this description and want to be part of this monumental project that may finally be realized, contact me via Profil3, on AIM at Anfernee82, or by e-mail via the same at hotmail.

I also could use some help with NX looks for the pirates. Particularly, the gunslinger's name is Sparrow and I'd like to know the look that best approximates one Captain Jack Sparrow. If anyone is a specialist in this sort of thing and knows how to do so, please let me know. Thank you in advance.

Name the Buccaneer "Marrrrk" (get it?) and I'll love you forever.

Good luck on the project too, btw.

I believe I already discussed this with you and said I'd be happy to play the Corsair. I can fiddle with BannedStory a bit, brb.

Edit: Wait a sec, even if we count PA and Spear DrKs as two separate classes (or at divided into least two different segments for hybrids) there are only 13 classes. Where are you getting 18?

L > PA DrK role. Mintrified or a few others would also be good candidates. A little less control is needed for Spear DrKs, as Crusher is more of a "get close then attack" type deal, and is too slow to use while jumping and maintain mobility like Fury. It also has less capability to hit behind/underneath.

Oh yeah, make that 2 people willing to play the Corsair then. Thanks for responding man, and my apologies if my (honest) criticisms about that comparison came across as too harsh. That's part of my nature. Add me to AIM; I forgot your screenname.

As for the 18 characters, that actually comes partially from the bonus features. The main video itself is 12 characters, then I made a perma-Beginner called Larry the Noob for comic relief skits, so he's 13. Then in bonus (or possibly integrated with the main video for a more direct comparison) I'm also building an axe Crusader, so he's 14 (this server doesn't have free SP resets, and its NX isn't cheap), and a combination BW/hybrid 1.5 WK for more interest, which makes 15. So for now the only really relevant ones to the video are actually 15 characters, which may change if I build others as well. The other 3 are "characters" that I was going to build for future Larry the Noob skits if he goes over well after his appearance in the 4th job video (none of which could exist in GMS anyway, as they are "uber" characters that Larry nonetheless finds a way to defeat).

As for the guy who asked about the DK, I built the DK as a hybrid who will use both polearm and spear in both the 3rd and 4th job videos, just for demonstrative purposes. The main focus will probably be on Spear Crusher and PA Fury (maybe more Fury in 3rd and more Crusher in 4th?), but I'll probably include just one demo of Roar as well, and a bit showing him using HB on a small party (similar to how I plan to demo the Priest's party focus). I can't include Sacrifice because I put the points into Spear Fury instead, reasoning that in 4th job, whenever Crusher w/ Berserk averages 65k total, PA Fury would average around 32k and Spear Fury would average around 20k, so 1 average Spear Fury + 1 average Crusher = up to 3 dead Skelegons. Even though it wasn't particularly liked on Basil, I'm still debating with myself whether or not to use the Purple Surfboard demo (level 95, Fast(5), 99 attack, +5 speed polearm) as one of the 3rd job video's bonus features. It's very impressive with Fury, especially against WS and Himes, but Fynl thinks people might consider it a little inauthentic since it's only in MSEA and not in GMS yet, so maybe I'll use that for the test recording and put it up as a separate video instead.

For the main video I'm still debating with myself whether to use a Sky Ski or Fairfrozen. I have them both, the current Ski being at 110 and the current FF being at 119. I like FF's look more and it has more attack and DPS, while the speed difference for Crusher isn't as significant as most attacks, plus Slow(7) vs. Normal(6) with Booster isn't generally as big a difference as, say, Normal(6) vs. Fast(5) with Booster. (My theory is that Crusher gets the same # of attacks as normal attacks 4 speeds slower, and speed differences are generally smaller at slower speeds.) So I may go with FF. It's all up to what would be more authentic for me, since this is mainly an educational effort.
