Do you believe in god?
WandererWillow Wrote:Best explanation that God doesn't control everything.

Mitch Hedberg is dead.
Dane Cook still lives.

Game over.

I don't veen know who those people are.

At your earlier reply, You believe your own beliefs, and so do I. So its alright for some one to call believers ignorant, and its not alright for me to say god controls everything (as my OWN belief)? Since you insist, I will stop. However maybe just consider how others would feel when they also express their feelings. Rolleyes

Just wanted to add, the only reason I keep saying it because soapy keeps asking me! it's not like I'd brag about my belief for 2 pages.. o_o

Soapy, stop?
Because you keep missing [or dodging >_>] the question every time!

So in your belief, since you believe God controls EVERYTHING [including incestuous relationships, baby rape and brutal wars] and you decided to flip a coin hoping for his guidance.

You asked 'Will I pass the test today?' and flipped the coin. Heads being Yes, Tails being No. You repeated this 9 more times and overall you got 6 Yeses and 4 Nos.

What does this mean? If it were Yes; couldn't God just make it flip to Yes all 10 times?

[Last reply about my belief lol]

No I have not been dodging them, you need to express them better.
God could have made them 10 heads, but if it were a test, it probably means you will pass but with some problems. Etc, not full 100%. (Etc: 70%/60%)

Religion is... and SHOULD be Faith based.
If someone says that they CAN PROVE.. god or what not Smack em.
Hard.

If they say it is their faith.
You should shut your damn mouth.
When someone says their favorite color is blue do you adamantly instead that their un-proven opinion is idiotic?
I hope not.

Now I want to hop in on this...you're saying that there may be problems with it, but it's all under God's guidance. So, wouldn't that mean that God would be wrong? Or maybe undecided?

I thought you wanted me to stop?
I'm just curious, if anyone knows anything about my religon, cause almost everyone I meet doesn't know what it is, except for my 8th grade Civics teacher. Well it's called Druze the symbol is a star with green, red, yellow, blue and white colors for each side. I can't go to it's church,( I went a couple weeks ago cause im currently not in the US though Biggrin) because they don't have any in the US, I wiki'd it once, but most I got was stuff about politics. On a side note, I do believe in God, however all that fate stuff that iiMarik is going on about I do not believe in, but my mom does.

I did, but if you feel the need to keep going, why the hell not. Now answer the question.

Biggrin I guess your mother and I are alike.

Alright willow, as you insist.

It is all under god's guidance, but what I believe is god can decide for you to pass the test, but not get full marks. He can decide for you to win a million dollars, then lose 500$ of it. It is not wrong or undecided, it's just as he wishes. Maybe you've been real good but done a little bad, so god gives you good and little bad.

As a firm anti-predestination person.
If you believe in Heaven and Hell and PREDESTINATION
then we get this crossroads:
God chooses to throw people into Hell for things they cannot control.
....
Or even better- I KILLED HIM. TIS GOD's WILL!
-I slept with your sister.. But since everything is God's doing I can't be blamed.

Wait, what? So coin flips are dependent upon karma? If I was good, I could flip 10 coins and get 10 heads every time if I was immaculate, considering that heads would be set as a good outcome? What if it wasn't even a test, I just wanted to see the outcome? There was no "good" or "bad", just one or the other. I get 6 on one side, 4 on the other. This would be God's decision? Why? Even if it DID have something riding on it, how are you going to say "to hell with physics, science, and math, all decisions are made based on God's guidance"?

Wait...
I thought you said God makes all decisions.
How can I CHOOSE to do good deeds if God controls all things?
I blame GOD for my lack of good deeds.
Your logic says I should be able too.
Right?>>

if you do not have a yes or no question, then why bother flipping it? You flip it for an answer and god gives it to you.

This is seriously my last post, I feel everyone's targeting me and its very awkward.

you really dont get it. even IF there is a "god" he is not sitting around doing crap for you. its in the bible, it says help yourself and i shall help you. you need to do the stuff. god will not come down in a pink unicorn and save that woman, thats the whole point. god will not come and trow bags of money at you, or put knowledge in your brain. you need to earn and get those things trough work.

and hail the only true god, FSM or bust woman

You kind of put that target on yourself...you've said some pretty ridiculous things that even those with the same beliefs as you are scratching their head. Here, I'm going to flip a coin right now.

Heads.

I guess I have been good. I had no reason to do that, but I figured if I had heads, that meant god thought I was good. Maybe I should flip it again, asking if god thinks that evolution is true.

Heads.

And once more, if creationism is true.

Heads again.

And now, if Fiel dances naked with the devil under the pale blue moon.

Tails. Damnit.
Heh, this post was kind of interesting... I read through most of it.

It is unfortunate, but these days -most- people do not choose their religion (or lack thereof). It runs in the family.

At a young age, a person is unable to make an opinion, because they aren't well informed. And so, they -usually- go with their parents/guardian's opinions. If I took any child that believes in any religion, and switched their parents before they could "understand", would they be that same religion? Very unlikely.

All I'm trying to put out here is this - have you decided on what you believe in because you've done research, because you've TRULY decided that was your opinion? Or was it because of your parents, your guardians? Taking it for granted? Think about that.

Personally, I'm not sure about my beliefs. It's a very difficult topic to understand and analyze, for the human mind. For the time being, I'd say no, I do not believe.
