xDae Wrote:I just hate the people that pray to God when its convienent for them. I hate people who never go to church.....never pray....and all of a sudden their mom gets cancer and they beg God for help.

I also hate people who pray to God over stupid stuff. Like praying to do well on a test. Im sure if there is a God, he has more pressing matters to attend to......like beating his roomate Chuggs in a arm wrestling match.....or driving Escalades...

This is what Im talking about

The only praying that I can't stand is the "I pray for ___ to find God in their heart" praying. It is arrogant, self-righteous, and ridiculous - it wrongly assumes that the person praying is following the only correct religious belief (I personally do not have beliefs, only good ideas, Dogma ftw) and that anyone who isn't is going to hell. The exception to this being someone in a state of severe depression who needs some guiding force in their life, and the person praying is hoping for them to find SOMETHING to run to to seek balance.

I don't feel like sifting through what I'm sure is pages of debate at the moment, so I'll simply answer the question for now.

Yes, I believe God, or at least some higher being.

But some people need god's powerful help, regardless if they know it or not. So some people pray for others to love god and be happy. They ask god to find a way for them so both can we happy, knowing god is merciful.

I think you misunderstood him. The basis of his rant lies onto people praying for people to find specifically the god of their religion into their hearts. Not the inner Buddha, not Allah, not L. Ron Hubbard, not the Flying Spaghetti Monster, not Carl Sagan's Invisible Garage Dragon, but their god, and only the god they believe in.

In a sense, it's disrespectful to think like that as there are several interpretations of God(s). But hey, hard to not contradict your own beliefs when there are other religions around. The second part of his rant is something more acceptable, IMO.

Im not saying God dont exist. Cause i have my own terms of what i believe but i question it when people mistake chance as an ack of god. Lets try the coin theory. Which i kinda made up but still.
The coin theory! It is that when you drop a coin itll land on heads or tails. And thats 50-50. BUT REALLY its not. There is a chance that itll land on its edge so that heads and tails will be Pointing out. Which in some terms it be called a tie. But it disables it from being 50-50. Even thought it may seem impossible there is still a EXTREMLY low chance of it landing that way. SO if a coin landed that way, and with such a low chance would you claim it to be an act of god?! no. Simple chance or Luck. Ok so this kid got a 3-4 foot poll stabbed threw his body and it missed EVERY organ and he didnt bleed. Oh people said it was an act of god cause god must of done something. NO it was chance. The way he landed on the poll had to do with it and yada yada. THIS POLL THING IS TRUE btw. I can say there is a holy figure but he dont really do anything but watch. I also tested out that karma stuff and its pritty true. I did something bad an a few minutes later i got hit in the face with something related to that bad thing. Then this girl i know she is completly negative. She ended up loosing all her friends. Only people she has nao is this one girl and her boyfriend. The girl is still her friend cause she pitties her. the boyfriends already getting annoyed with her(not the girl that pitties her but the girlfriend) i think karma is real.

Anyone that say's 'everything that happens has a reason' is probably religious. Because god is the one to decide if you get punched today, or get key logged in a week or find a 50$ note on the floor.

When ever I seek answers, I flip a coin (got one next to me atm) because I know what ever I ask, and what ever it lands on, is what god is telling me to do/the answer he wants to give.

My user name should tell you but in my own belief system even is a god unto themselves, I believe in the Scientific models of evolution and creation of the universe, though while they do not exclude a possibility of a god nor do they confirm.

I think that everyone has control of what they say do or feel.you can only view the universe though your eyes and your belief system, people should not try to force things on you.

To quote a film.
"
Murphy: Do not kill, do not rape, do not steal, these are principles which every man of every faith can embrace.
Connor: These are not polite suggestions, these are codes of behavior and those of you that ignore them will pay the dearest cost. "
That is what i think on this subject.

Hazzy Wrote:One of the basic rules of life is "All life comes from another life".

Where did you get that from?

Life is a rare occurence in nature when that was created at certain tempatures with certain chemicals. Life began with one cell and through millions of years of evolution different forms of life has evolved, from plants, to sharks, to dogs, to humans.

Anyway life is extremely special and rare but giving and claiming a magical man in the sky made everything is just plain ignorance. I could understand believing this in the 18th century when Science was suppressed and there was no alternative to the fairy tales begin taught as truth.

Hazzy Wrote:If we have no pain, we can't enjoy happiness. Knowing that something is worse than what're you doing is what makes it enjoyable.

Pain happens to warn us from things that can hurt us and happiness happens when favorable things to your survival happen.

When you trip and you hurt your arm, you know you shouldn't do that. When you are happy with friends it just means that you have social bonds that would have normally meant in the original human thrives better chance of survival.

Pain, happiness, and emotions are romanticized and I can understand why, but claiming that god makes our emotions instead of our brains is ridiculous.

I'm not replying anymore, I don't like reading people's comments in these kinds of threads.

Oh no, learning the truth! That would destroy the total faith the church demands from you without asking questions.

Who are you to declare your 'God ain't real' thing is the 'truth'. Everyone is giving their opinion, don't go around saying stuff like that just cause you believe god isn't real, no one really cares so don't piss people off by telling them 'They are learning from the truth'. And it's 'plain ignorance' for believing in god.

You have your opinion, don't go overboard and ruin the debate. We could say your plain ignorant for telling others to learn from the truth.

I am a reasonable man to declare that facts. It sucks if you don't agree with me, I am not being offensive, its the topic itself that offense people since they were raised not to question the fairy tales.

I am not going overboard, lmao.

Calling me ignorant from promoting truth is an oxymoron...

Uh, read your own post please? I don't even know what an oxymoron is, but if is an insult, keep it to yourself, or I may just need the report button.

Brandini Wrote:claiming a magical man in the sky made everything is just plain ignorance.

Your 'facts' are not 'facts' to everybody, so don't declare them REAL.
#75
Obviously you are a kid and if you think oxymoron is an insult its best that you just go to school and do a bit more learning done before trying to get in a serious debate.

Facts are facts, evolution is real, its proven. God is just something people made up.
#76
Here we go again. NO you are not right to everyone. We all believe different so stop acting like you know everything. This is my last post for a while, you're really bugging me with your ignorance.

You ARE going overboard though. While most of us respect that you have your point of view, ridiculing the opposing viewpoint by dismissing religion as "fairy tales" and calling religious people "ignorant" is obviously going to result in some anger.

And you are wrong in calling evolution "fact." Evolution is a scientific theory, and while most scientists agree with it, it is not a *fact*.
#78
Fine if you don't want me to use the term fairy tale I will call it theology but if that girl does not even know what an oxymoron is I doubt she will be able to keep up with theology.

How am I ignorant, Marik? I doubt you even know what that words mean, you just think its a defineless insult.

I am calling it a fact because its proven, while theology is just a belief system. Even though its a theory I consider it a fact since its the most proven theory out there but if you want to keep it technical I will call it a theory.

And calling religious people ignorant is not going overboard if these people were educated they would know that those things describe in the bible is not possible. So its ignorance or delusion that affects them.

The whole point of the Bible is that there was divine intervention. Just because you don't see it today in your comfortable chair, doesn't mean that it doesn't and didn't exist.
