[Update] How to get MapleStory v159

During internal testing for v159, we discovered an issue with the auto-patcher and the manual patcher that would affect many players on v158.1 or v158.2. Players who already exclusively use Steam or Nexon Launcher to play MapleStory will not be affected by this issue, so they can disregard the following.

If you encounter "map.wz is corrupt" error while using the auto-patcher or the patching stops on the map.wz file while using the manual patcher, please follow the steps below to get the correct files for v159.


Simplest method

Click here to download the v159 full client downloader.

Run the MapleStory_Downloader.exe when it finishes downloading and follow the prompts to install the client.

Here's what the downloader will look like when it's running:



When it finishes downloading the full client installer, it will say "Ready to install," and an "open" button will appear. Click the "open" button.



Our Terms of Use will appear. Read through these and click "Agree" if you accept them.



Next you can choose where to install MapleStory. The default folder that will appear is C:NexonMapleStory. When you're ready, click "Install."



If you already have MapleStory installed in the folder you chose, a warning message will appear letting you know that the current folder will be deleted and replaced. When you're ready to do this, click "OK."



The full client installer will begin the installation process. Here's what it looks like:



When the installer is finished, a message will appear letting you know that the installation is complete. Click "OK."



Log into our website if you aren't logged in already, then click the "Play" button. MapleStory will launch.






Other methods

Getting the correct v158 .wz files:
Due to a patching issue in v158, some players have incorrect versions of the following client files: Map.wz, Mob.wz, Quest.wz, UI.wz. In order to patch without downloading the full v159 client, you will need the correct version of these .wz files. You'll know if you have the issue if you encounter "map.wz is corrupt" error while using the auto-patcher or the patching stops on the map.wz file while using the manual patcher. Here's how you get the correct versions of these .wz files:

1. Download this zip file, which contains corrected versions of v158 .wz files with which are causing the patching issues. The file size is a little over 3GB. If you have a slower than expected download speed for it, you can try this link for it to see if your download speed improves.
   
2. Unzip the file, then overwrite them to the folder where the game is installed. For most players, this folder is C:NexonMapleStory
   
3. Launch the client to run the auto-patcher again, or run the manual patcher again.
   

• If you still receive this message: "Map.wz is corrupt," please download the full client.
  
• If you see this message: "maplestory.exe not found," MapleStory must be located in a different folder. Please select the correct folder.
  

Manual Patcher:
The v.159 manual patcher is available for players who currently have v.158 installed.

1. Download the manual patch by clicking this link: ManualPatcherv159.exe
   
2. Double-click on the patcher.
   
3. Select the folder where the game is installed. For most players, this folder is C:NexonMapleStory
   

• If the manual patcher stops on map.wz, please download the full client or follow the instructions above to get the correct v158 .wz files in order to patch.
  
• If you see this message: "maplestory.exe not found," MapleStory must be located in a different folder. Please select the correct folder.
  

Full Client Installer without the downloader program:
The v.159 full client installer is available below. If you experience issues while using the regular downloader, please click to download the five files listed below. You must save these files to the same folder. Then simply run the MSSetupv159.exe file to install MapleStory normally.

It's pretty fucking sad that this post even exists. Why the hell would you knowingly distribute a patch that doesn't work?

Going to take eons w/ my crummy Australian download speed.

Wouldn't it be easier if they just released a new patch that's based on our supposedly 'corrupt' installs? If the patcher is just a delta file, it should be a piece of cake.

Oh joy.. 6.8 GB to download.

I downloaded the "small fix" and it finally worked!

Why haven't they removed the faulty patch? I tried auto-patching and it messed up all my files. -_-

[Update 1/21 11 PM] We've updated the v158 to v159 auto-patcher and the v158 to v159 manual patcher. While this will address the patching issues for more players, there will still be some players who are affected. If you are experiencing issues patching from v158 to v159, follow the steps below.

While patching from v158 to v159, if you encounter a "map.wz is corrupt" error while using the auto-patcher or the patching stops on the map.wz file while using the normal manual patcher, you can use the following hotfix patch.

2. Double-click on the patcher.
   
3. Select the folder where the game is installed. For most players, this folder is C:NexonMapleStory
   

• If the hotfix patch stops on Map.wz, please download the full client, use the auto-patcher, or use the regular manual patcher mentioned above.

gg... I need to redownload the whole game. Going to take like the whole day, freaking 7 GB

Not sure what happened, but keep getting the server check message everytime I start up the game.
Tried some suggestions from googling, but that didn't do jack-squat..
