  • [Image: header.jpg]MapleStory's 9th Anniversary month has arrived, and that means it's time to get this party started! Check out the brand new Soul Weapon system and enter the Murgoth Dungeon... if you dare. Enjoy updates to older content, rebalances to several classes, and a soiree of sweet new events. Read on for the full rundown.

    Soul Weapons

Use the new Soul Weapon system to convert regular Lv. 75+ weapons into Soul Weapons. Fight bosses to gain Soul Shards, which you can use to fuse a boss's soul into your weapon. Each soul grants a different skill to your weapon. You can only have one soul fused to your weapon at a time, but it can be removed or replaced. When you hunt monsters with your Soul Weapon, it charges the Soul Gauge; once it's full you can use your weapon's special skill.

    [Image: ss1.png] Murgoth Dungeon

Enter the Murgoth Dungeon (Lv. 75+) during the event time and hunt for Soul Shards in 1v1 or 3v3 Party Mode. The dungeon's monsters represent the five main classes of MapleStory, and the amount of damage you inflict upon them is dependent on your class. Clear the room and open the treasure box, which can give you Soul Shards or helpful items.

    [Image: ss2.png] Guild System Overhaul

Maplers have been building communities through the Guild System for years, and now it's time to make guilds even better. With the new, streamlined Guild UI, you can search for existing guilds, request membership or create your own. In addition, the max Guild level has been increased from 10 to 25, and there are now even more ways to collect Guild Contribution Points. Several new Guild Skills have been added, including Noblesse skills only accessed by participating in the new Flag Race event.

[Image: ss3.png] Lion King's Castle: Rose Garden

Players Lv. 110+ can use the El Nath taxi to journey to Lion King's Castle. Once there, visit the Rose Garden, now blanketed by a mysterious blizzard, and eliminate the monsters that prowl there. Complete quests and daily jobs to earn Ifia's Jewelry Set.

    [Image: ss4.png] Class Skill Rebalancing

Several character classes have received various skill rebalances, including Mihile, Mechanic, Bow Master, Demon Avenger, Wild Hunter, Demon Slayer, Mercedes, Kaiser, Evan and Kanna.

    [Image: ss5.png] Cash Shop Changes

Some changes are coming to the Cash Shop-just one of the many ways we're giving thanks to loyal players like you. Pets and pet equips are being updated, allowing your pets to learn permanent skills. Electronic Hearts and some other items are being moved from the Cash Shop to NPC shops, where they'll be available for purchase with mesos. Best of all, a new cubing device, the Hermes Cube, is being made available exclusively outside of the Cash Shop through an upcoming event for equipment Lv.99 and below. This is only the beginning of the many changes we have in store for the Cash Shop, so stay tuned.

    [Image: ss6.png] Zombies!

The zombies have risen! STAR Zombies and Howlers are on the loose, and monsters have a chance to drop contaminated mesos. If you pick them up you will become infected - eventually becoming a zombie! As you succumb to the virus and undergo its various stages, you will gain different stat boosts. Not a fan of being undead? Track down the vaccine and use it to cure yourself. Depending on which path you choose, you'll receive a different zombie-themed Android.

    [Image: ss7.png] Other Events

The Anniversary fun never ends! The 9th Anniversary Coin Shop is being updated with new items, and will also be extended through June 24. Enjoy even more events, such as The Great Pipsqueak Zakum, where you compete against the titular baddie in an intense Rock-Paper-Scissors battle for awesome prizes like the White Mage Snowfield Mount. Take part in the Get Your Own Mustache attendance event to earn a daily mustache for your character.

Neat-o. Does this include picking up items?

So this is basically the 2nd part of the FLY patch.

KMS replaced pet items (magnets and stuff) with Pet Skills nearly 5 years ago. They do the same things, for the most part. I really didn't think GMS would ever bother making the switch.

Certain pets also come with skills built-in. (or they did. No idea if they still do)

Kritias must really be under construction then... how long has it been?

Wondering what changes will be made to the anni shop... will hoard primes and CS scrolls just in case.

Kanna rebalancing... hopes it's for the better, as in it doesn't create more bugs:/

inb4 class switch glitch with zombie event

Hermes cubes exclusively outside the Cash Shop uwotm8, too bad most equips worth cubing are 100+ (150+ even)

Why is that? We're assuming it's post-unleashed (the corresponding GMS update name iirc) since we're way past that.

The difference between season 1 and season 2 is:

In season 1, you can use your own class skills and your damage isn't capped.
In season 2, you can only use Dragon Roar as a skill and your damage is capped.

It takes too much time to clear a dungeon in season 2.

Cash shop stuff sounds promising depending on what they do. As long as transitioning to skills doesn't mean I somehow lose any functionality my perm pet gear already provides. But skills for my other perm pets will be great. Hermes cube seems a bit pointless why bother cubing stuff under lv99. The image says it will only go to unique as well.

The zombie event is new right? It's not been in any other version? Seems like something they could have saved for Halloween.

Why does Kanna get a rebalance but not Hayato?

I already have a lot of permanent pet equips. I hope this transition doesn't make me lose any functionality.

I wonder what changes Kanna will be receiving. Were they recently revamped in any other version?

Because NexonNA literally hates me QQ

But Kanna IMO already has so much utility (boss and status resist, tier 1 and 3 bind) to make up for her lack of dmg, while hayatos get... infinite knockback at almost any boss and are actually weaker than kanna because Haku OP.

Sweet mother of fuck, they're gonna kill Kishin.

Also, I see a rebirth flame.

As others above me have expressed, I feel as if I'm going to lose my permanent pet equips (as potential evidence, they've switched to the KMS pet window, which lacks equip slots, other than the ones for pet clothes)

Even if I don't, I don't enjoy the idea of having skills as a part of the pet, given that I have quite a few pets (as I believe most of us do, given the various perma pet sales and events over the past few years), and I very much like the option of being able to swap them out without losing any functionality.

While the majority of pets are equipped with both item and meso loots as skills (with the exception of a handful that only have one or the other, and then, I only know this to be true for KMS), and that's mostly what I use them for, so I guess it won't be too bad, I'm still not loving this.

Nice for those with the permanent pets but lack the equips (unless old pets don't gain the skills they should have, or if they make the pets no longer permanent... I'm being so pessimistic about this)
