it seems with the rash of hackers that the economy is going haywire...
Yesterday (its yesterday now...) I was looking around on basil/in the FM and not only are ilbis dropping in price minute to minute but other items (mainly WS drops and some others) are dropping also... I know this is due to the 24hr hacking efforts at WS but theres hackers spreading out to less trained on mobs (currently seeing 24hr hacking at the map before the JQ in CWK) these monsters drop more rarely found stuff (badges and the exchange quest rewards....) and I can already see the effects (60% overall for ints dropped by several mil though this could be just a market fluctuation) and if these hackers continue they could theorhetically move to any location to hunt anything that seems rare till they don't make a decent profit off them anymore and move on to the rarest of items (nep honey deflation to 100K anyone?)
As nexon has yet to "do" anything the economy seems to be in a state of flux as more items are entering the market at a faster rate than users can seem to want them... does this spell ruin for the economy as it was just starting to return to semi-normal after the chest event? Or do people welcome the low prices and hope it continues just long enough for items to bottom out and be available then ban all the hackers and instantly reduce the supply to cause mass inflation again? (at the point of banning the hackers buy 100's of ilbis and then sell them in a month...)

Good question. Demethos is seeing ilbis drop rapidly, but not seeing a major drop in much of anything else. Guess we're still too new. Nonetheless, the hackers are still here, working overtime at WS, Himes, STDs... But the #2 player was banned today for hacking, so, maybe the tide is turning?

In a way, this is sort of like fighting fire with fire. While I don't support hacking in any way, Maple's economy tends to keep inflating and inflating until prices get rediculously high. Sometimes Nexon steps in and does something to deflate prices (60% glove for att and the new pots at NLC anyone?) But sometimes hackers come in and lower the prices. Personally I prefer Nexon lowering prices, but if it gets bad this side effect of hacking isn't too bad.

ehmm... just a pointer...
other than the uber-cheap ilbis... and cilbis and bal furys...
ALL scrolls are about... 5-10x more expensive than when there wasn't as much hackers? so the scrolls dropping in price ... is a good thing?
the REASON all scrolls went up imho is because the hackers has more money in their hands and bought most of them at any price and it just kept skyrocketing... until now it's at the peak point where they would rather hunt themselves...?

You know, I thought I'd never see anyone complaining about cheap prices.
This might actually be good for the economy :f6:.

Nowadays the hackers aren't bothering to buy items, they just hack for mesos and then sell them... with the no delay hack they can kill any monster very quickly anyway.
It's not just wolf spiders, there are (last I looked) about a dozen level 150+ DKs hacking at Vikings on Bera. I'm sure they find some ilbis too.
ei. look up kiss78 and hundred01 on the ranks. I've found them both hacking @ Vikings.

stopped reading/taking you serious from bolded part.
Ilbi dropping by a few mil doesn't mean everything's dropping. And with dropping, I mean even appearing on the hackers screen. Nependeath's honey is far too rare even if botted on every single map/channel to ever go that low. They were hacked for months on end for a while a year and a half back, never went lower than 7,5m.
Hackers aren't as retarded as you think they are. Once they realize (if they haven't already) they control the economy, obviously they won't be selling ilbi for 30k each considering -- guess what -- they need the money themselves.
@Stereo; vikings don't drop ilbi, that's a lie.

This is certainly a change of events.. In doing so, Ilbies will drop, so the poor can afford them (same goes for claws, equips, scrolls, etc). But then, people will have problem selling things and making profit.
Good because I can scroll claws at ease, but I have a problem making that money to scroll. >_> -twitches-

People who make their money on Gachapon are probably safe, there are still dozens of dark scrolls that can't be hunted from monsters.

It's the total meso/ilbi ratio we're talking about here, and the amount of people interested in ilbis. That's what I think anyway. (Applied supply/demand)
Usually, scrolls tend to inflate badly. I remember seeing claw 30% scrolls selling for 30-40 mill before.

I hope u were being sarcastic about the viking ilbi thing cause I've found an ilbi at vikings before.
About the economy thing. Depending on which side of the economic spectrum you are, it can hurt or help you. When prices are high, the rich players are the ones who will just keep on getting richer. During a slump like this, everything loses value, and it becomes harder to make lots of money at once. That godly item you used to be able to sell for max mesos, won't be worth so much anymore.
How to make money at times like this? Its the same as people who play the stock market (like myself). Buy low sell high. Things are cheap, buy as much as you can. As soon as the hackers are gone, the prices will slowly start to rise. That's when you go into your storage of items and have a nice sell off. Like warren buffet says "be fearful when people are greedy, and be greedy when people are fearful."
The only flaw is that, unlike the real world, nexon has the ability to change the game at will. Example, hackers make ilbis really cheap, so you buy a bunch to sell later. The prices start going up and nexon decides to make ilbis drop from snails. Now ur jus screwed lol.

o____o in the FM in khaini, there is an abundance of certain Items (not just hacked but legit and gacha) priced high and never fall. Sometimes people refuse to lower the prices of items and the buyers will keep looking till they can get the items cheaper or just give in and buy the item at the high price even with the price should be falling.

I still don't see a problem with lower prices. So what if its harder to make
"a lot of money"? Since everything is cheaper, you have no need to gain as
much money as before, unless to quench some sort of insatiable greed.

Has anyone actually stepped back and looked @ the maple economy? In all servers, it is by far, the most fucked up MMO economy I have ever seen.

Considering my level, I pretty much make all my money through the Zip Gach. For lower level players such as myself, Price drops would be a good thing. I for one am happy that the price of Zhelms in Khaini went down from 70mil VIP to 50mil VIP (which is probably not related to Hacking). Anyways I like the price drops, but I would rather see the hackers gone.

The deflated economy is a double edged sword. Kasuhitomi put it in simple terms. You can buy cheap claw scrolls, but tryna make more money to keep buying them is hard. You get more now for the same amount of money, but you also get less for the stuff you need to make money off of.
