[MSEA] Horned Tail Rewards (Update)
#1
Well, this is the second time Asiasoft is doing something about the HT hacking problem (1st was DC-ing all ppl below lvl 80 who enter the cave)

Quote:Dear Maplers,

once again, we will like to remind that Rewards for Horned Tail will ONLY be given with BOTH of the following conditions fulfilled:

1) Horned Tail has to be defeated by more than 10 surviving players.

2) The battle against Horned Tail has to last for more than 1 hour.

If you have forgotten about this conditions, please refer to the following link: http://maple.asiasoftsea.net/intro/news/...etail.aspx

for the information that we have provided before on 27th February 2008.

We hope you have fun battling with the Ultimate Boss in MapleSEA.

Happy Mapling!

just curious but how long does the avg HT run last these days in GMS? could there be a possibility that if this came to GMS that we'd have a HT squad sitting around waiting for the 1hr mark to do that last bit of dmg?

alot of Squads in GMS can take it down in about 30min =X

WHAT?!?! U'RE KIDDING.

Anyway, I'm sure the GMs take note of the average takedown time per HT.

How plentiful are maplesea's onyx apples? I've heard maplesea's apq gives less of them. In gMS, onyx apples are plentiful and are used in every horntail run to speed things up, which explains the sub-hour times.

I'm guessing this is to prevent hackers from speed killing it. Not only do they need 10 people, but they need to kill it in over an hour.
Can't they just sit around for an hour though?
offtopic: this is my 1000th post =D

How in the hell would they code something in the server that checks if there are 10 players in the map and if the battle lasted 1 hour and if those conditions are fullfilled, HornTail will give the drops?

Wow, AsiaSoft indeed did a good job.

Fastest HT run I recall would be 29min. Average seems to be much higher, though. (Around 50~60min+)

Quite simple: When drops are rolled, check conditions. If conditions aren't met, void all rolls.

too bad this doesn't include exp.

Wow, anyone know how many apples are available in SEA and their going price? An hour seems kinda long.

Bellocan runs are usually 45 minnutes to an hour and 15 minnutes and I'm sure the older servers with more people apqing and more high level players can do the run much faster. It would be kinda lame to sit around for an hour waiting to kill.

Then again SEA has more lvl 200 players, do they still use apples for bosses or do they just use Echo of Hero?

If I'm not wrong, the apples in MSEA aren't that readily available as in GMS. The rate in the Bonus Stage was lowered down.

We haven't had a 45min run in a long time lol. Been doing like 1hr 10min runs lately.

Unless the "time check" is only for main body which I kinda doubt.

o_o that's odd.
As people level squads get faster?
I hope AsiaSoft acknowledges that lol.

Apples have a reduced drop rate in MapleSEA's APQ. In Bootes they're about 25-30mil each.

just a guess, but every time you enter a map it should send some signal to the server to telling it that "player id xxxxxx is in map x/y" so all it takes is a simple data inquiry of the specific map to know how many people are within a single map. The time part is simpler since it has the timer in place already, basically it has the drop yes/no set to no until 1 hour has passed.

that is unless they use another way for it, but those seem to be the easiest ways to me D:

That 10 players condition is going to be a real pain if there are any straggling survivors of a squad just wanting to kill HT.

Also, for the people wondering how servers track the number of players in HT's Cave, they pretty much do the same thing when it comes to most PQs (x < 6 people at APQ = phailure, where x is the number of people participating) and it wouldn't be hard to track players in most any conditions.

Oh wow! Eek
Ok I'm sure they are a lot more concerative with the apples they do have than we are. Maybe an hour is reasonable for them then.

When does the HT timer start? I always assumed it started on the main body but maybe it starts on the pre-heads and I never noticed? If it's pre-heads + main body timer then it's much more reasonable. I assumed it was a timer on the main map.

For having at least 10 people on death, couldn't people with extra computers just have spair chars outside (like we do with buyers at times) and then bring them in if needed?

Why can't we have rarer Apples? D:

@_@ at those prices i still say that bello's prices being 200+ mil over MSEA's HT necklace+egg prices is ridiculous X_X

Because it would make things harder, people would complain... it would be AWESOME.
