Hacked Items
#1
I was going to put this in the Bowman section but I'm sure this spams into all classes. If a person buys a hacked item and it's QUITE OBVIOUS it's hacked is that person still considered legit. I sorta see them in the same category as leechers or even being just as bad as hackers.

I mean yeah getting a perfect weapon is tempting (not that I could afford one) but is the line between what a legit is and isn't lately so blurred and obscured that buying a hacked weapon is just acceptable?

Yes I think buying a perfect weapon that you know isn't legit is illegit.

depends how you look at it, cause some people dont care if your equips arnt legit, most people care that you are legit in how you both go to the lvl you are at, and how you got the weapon.

There exists the same issue in Diablo II where a high fraction of all items and currency are illegit dupes. People stopped caring, other than the fact that the items could disappear on you, merely because their money goes towards getting an item they need in which they're paying the correct price for. You can't tell it's counterfeit, you're paying retail price, only difference is who's gaining the profit. Of course it's illegit though.

I feel that its legit as long as you don't know for a fact that its an illegit item

You are still gaining the mesos to pay for the godly equip in a legit way and who's to say someone didn't just get incredibly lucky and happen on that 1 in a billion chance and perfectly scroll something? (i have personally seen someone scroll a perfectly scrolled jean shorts for def (30's which i was amazed he had the gumption to do it) he wore them for like a week afterwards just for fun (he doesn't play anymore but he still has them afaik)

If the weap is accuratly priced (not priced at 15m for a 15 atk scg...) and you earned enough to buy it legitly then imo your still legit owning it though I'd advise to not buy it knowing that it could be deleted at any time without compensation...

It won't. Trust me, lol.

However, how do you know that the weapon is hacked? And what is your definition by hacking?

Typically if there is high volume influx or a particular item, driving prices down. Big example are stars like Illibis because of hackers at wolf spiders.

Duped items are like too good to be true, you start noticed many pairs of 15 att scg then something is wrong. It would be like staring at a shop with 14 white scrolls and thinking nothing is wrong with them.

Weapons are obvious, perfect weapons are only made with 10% scrolls using white scrolls OR packet editing. And if you play the whole "well I didn't know card" for REALLY obvious that's sad.

Lucky is like more than 3 30% scrolls finished with 60 or 70%, it could even be that one time you land a 10% then risking two more 30%, not 7 10% scrolls.

I think people make too big a deal out of hackers and what they do. Hackers who invade maps and destroy training opportunites are a serious problem, and the fact that they can influence the economy so greaty through increasing the existance of items such as ilbis through hacking mobs or duping is a problem. But unless you are completely sure the item is from hacked mobs or duping, then just buy it. Too much ideology is being inserted into an aspect of this game that isn't that big of a deal. If if I see a really great equip or a shop full of ilbis, should I just scream HACKER and ignore that opportunity? No, how can I prove with 100% certainty that its hack related.

All this stuff against leeching and alleged hacked items makes no sense to me. Why are people trying to overcomplicate this game.

People get all worked up over h4x0rz because there's a few issues involved, mainly the "legit pride" and trust. Trust is something to think about, as people will start getting suspicious and complain if they believe someone isn't being bound to the same rules that Nexon intended for the game. Sorta like how your neighbor magically got $100,000 and you KNOW it's not a bailout from the government...

For me, I like to preserve legit pride, integrity and trust, although I don't go about flaunting it or anything. I just use one rule when dealing with shady things: common sense.

The person that has the shop open. I guess it's always 100% legit for cjhfjhuheue to have a shop full of cheap ilbis!!

Do people still manage to dupe items? :f6:

Nevertheless, none of your statements proves that the weapon is hacked/duped. BSUCLA has a perfect spear, and I know that there are more equips out there that are perfect and legit. And, someone may be lucky with SC gloves and scroll 3 15s in a row. That's not impossible. It's in fact quite possible.

Of course, you may want to believe that the weapon isn't legit. In most, if not all, cases you would question a weapon's legitness, I would do the same.

However, we have no direct proof that the weapon's not legit. If FangBlade had a store open with a perfect Fairfrozen, would it be automatically tagged as illegit? What if a mule had the Fairfrozen? It would be safe to say that some people spend way more time in FM than FangBlade, and thus in theory have more money. It's an interesting topic indeed.

There's alot of contriversy about this in Mardia due to one of our higher level's has a perfect rab. He is a good friend of mine so I wont meantion any names and I would prefer others not to meantion it if they know about it. But yes he has a perfect rab people say it is a duped item and that he bought it from a hacker knowing full well it was a duped item. I can't say I think he should of bought the rab but he attained it legitly with his own meso's he's gotten to a high level by training his character legitly. Yes, I do think we should frown on him for buying it. But I don't think having that item make's him illegit. Some other's would argue otherwise but I think it is just somthing we should frown on like leeching. We also have a perfect scanda in mardia that was legitly scrolled yay! Biggrin

I know that usually well known people find it easier to make a perfect weapon over time, it's a goal. I watched a guy in my alliance seek out every white scroll on the server that he could find just to make a very godly weapon but I don't think it was perfect.

I haven't thrown out the idea of mass scrolling, but how many iTCG items are really left to make clean SCG, I know with the new set they have many of the old items. With the rarity of certain items required to even consider a perfect weapon I just don't see there being more than 1 or 2 of that item.

Apparently there are some duped items left that get slowly thrown into the FM so there is no way of telling....

But I'm talking more about THE INCREDIBLY OBVIOUS! hacker items.

lol @ Godofturtles...didn't you spend a few pages arguing about Bishops using elemental wands? You don't consider that making a big deal?

Me, personally won't ever have enough mesos to even consider buying high priced godly items. And I know others will argue jealousy (like with the leechers gaining levels faster than the legits is just jealousy) I guess I'm just a person that hates short cuts on a simple game such as maple story and won't ever understand why people use them. If someone did indeed offer me like a 134/5 nisrock for a ridiculously low price I'll be honest and say I wouldn't buy if I had the mesos.

In D2 you can buy unidentified items such as Windforce. To the best of my knowledge an unid item cannot be a dupe.

However, Maple is a lot more money-oriented, so the hackers can sell their 50 int saunas for $$$. I know a guy who seriously considered spending 7,000 dollars to buy all-perfect gear for his character. Two guesses where those perfect items would come from.

Would hacked ores fall under the category of "hacked items"?
Seeing as 85% of the market's ores are now hacked ores, and not all shops are gonna have IGNs with random letters and numbers, what are you gonna do about it? Is buying hacked ores and plates in FM acceptable?

When you get a quest asking for 20 steel plates I'd rather just buy two steel plates at 5k each rather than hunt 200 steel ores at Goby.

I think people look past the fact that some items were hacked because they just don't care.

About knowing whether an item was scrolled legitimately or not, someone could just spam "B> White Scrolls" for two weeks not buy a single one, then dupe the item and say they white scrolled it. Unless you're standing behind the person on their computer in real life watching them scroll it, couldn't any perfect item can be questioned?

Before the server check my buddies and I were talking about all the people collecting ores and how it might be the downfall of a server economy. >_> But...for the maker skill.....it takes more than just ores to make items.
It also requires the skill to be leveled up and other components. I think by the time we get that skill nexon will give the mass banhammer to hackers again. So hackers probably won't be crafting billions in items.

But legits will probably buy their ores...*sighs* And some so called legits are the hackers anyways.

Hackers are a part of maple that aren't going away, trying to avoid any and all contact with them, including buying their items, is just an annoying complication that people shouldn't care about. I understand that everyone wants to remain completely legit and feel that they've done everything morally right, but unfortunately nexon doesn't care and you personally don't know if the items you are using are "legit". So what if you buy ilbis from a hacker's shop, you could buy ilbis from a seemingly legit shop and that legit could of bought those ilbis for cheap from a hacker's shop. So if you buy an item from a legit who bought that item from a hacker, does that make you a hacker supporter? All of this goes nowhere, I am a legit player who has never scammed or hacked and I prefer to play this game without having to worry about whether my actions are somehow sympathetic with hackers just because I bought something that people might call hacked.

So by the same logic, every Assasin/hermit/NL and every Gunslinger that buys stars/bullets, or the ones that buys cheap ores for ht quest or other things are illegit too?

I myself, spent 3 weeks and all my mesos funding to get enough Nx to get a Ribgol, the person selling it was SlickSliner or something like that, which was legit as far as i know, but then i found out that the person who scrolled that item was l69I, which is a well known duper from bera, after all my hard work to get all that Nx, now i am illegit cos i didn't knew who scrolled it?

I think it's worst for those people who payed a lot of dollars to get the items rather than what i did.

So we should accept them and encourage them to continue?

About duped items : Doesn't really matter if you buy something with legit mesos or not, the gear wouldn't even be available to buy if it wasn't hacked for.

Encourage them how? They are gonna hack whether we buy their items or not.

BTW, what does me arguing about elemental weapons have to do with this? That was a maple issue that I still think is important because it was possible to fix even though its unlikely at this point that nexon will do a single thing about it. It was more of a technical arguement based on facts than an ideological arguement based on personal values that are respectable yet not enforcable.

I understand that supporting hackers is wrong, but I just don't think it makes sense to evaluate every shop or item in order to determine if its legit and if you should buy it.
