Being sick and tired of fighting for a spot during 2x exp, I decided to dedicate today's 2x to science: to figure out once and for all whether Nexon's "2x Drop" events really do anything.
A few hours before the event, I went into the zombie mushroom mini-dungeon in Ant Tunnels II, and spent an hour there.
Shortly after the "2x exp and drop" event began, I went back to that mini-dungeon for another hour.
Here is everything I managed to pick up:
| Item | Regular | Event | | Experience | 53438 | 106376 (2 x 53188) | | Meso | 67554 | 67715 | | Charm of the Undead | 553 | 552 | | Horny Mushroom Cap | 293 | 275 | | Rascal Snowpiece | 343 | 340 | | Monster Card | 28 | 27 | | Emerald Ore | 2 | 2 | | Bronze Ore | 1 | 2 | | Mithril Ore | 2 | 5 | | Topaz Ore | 4 | 2 | | Blue Potion | 24 | 26 | | Orange Potion | 28 | 29 | | Dexterity Potion | 20 | 21 | | Wizard Potion | 1 | 2 | | Arrow for Bow | 550 | 275 | | Arrow for Crossbow | 387 | 391 | | equips | 3 | 1 |
(equips during regular hours were Brown Sneak Pants, Black Pao Bottom, and Green Hunter hat. Equip during 2x drop was Brown Leather Armor Glove).
I think the picture is clear enough.

2x Drop events have almost always been a huge joke. They don't activate it at all most of the time.

Nice work, everyone should send a ticket to Nexon regarding 2x Drop. Such an event should, how I see it, give us 2x the drop of all items, including mesos. Which it doesn't. And hasn't done in a loong time.

(Like when I found 3 60% scrolls from Blue Wyverns during the whole entire event 2x EXP/Drop back at Christmas, I think?)
Well, kinda a bummer either way. This confirms everything, thanks! xD

Before I agree that they have no effect, I'd personally like to see a video of you training/looting during those times, to make sure the looting stayed constant. Unless, of course, you fallow a basic pattern with a pet. xP

Dunno about you guys, but I got Brandish 30 during a pap solo during Saturday's 2x drop (best drop in my <10 pap solos Ive done, lol). That being said, it was probably luck.
I remember back in the day (Last Christmas), 2x drop worked as everything dropped twice as much, including the meso amounts and whatnot. However, that's kind of "broken", as it made it waaay too easy to make things (Most monsters have a 50% chance to drop an etc. item, meaning at the time, 2x drop meant basically 100% chance of dropping etc. items and mesos) so I think they altered it and... just broke it, lol.
I personally think that 2x drop should work as an extra 50% of the chances of something not dropping, meaning that you'd have a 75% chance of finding an item if it originally has a 50% chance of dropping and if it has a 30% chance of dropping to up it to 45%, etc. but that's just me.
It seems the nx 2x drop cards do work though, as Ive found around 6-7k mts nx in 3 hours of a 1.5k 2x drop card (mmm, profit)

The x2 drop cards have always worked.
The server x2 drop events used to work
The server x2 drop events stopped working at some point
I hope you posted this or will post this in the sw thread cause i'm curious what that one person will say. Probably something along hte lines of "It just happened like that by chance, the x2 drop event does work"

I do follow a pattern and have a pet looting everything. I'm a warrior, so everything I kill is right next to me, no need to lead the pet to another platform just to pick up the loot.
The reason I chose this particular map is that it's got a natural cycle through it, and nobody can come in and loot, ks, or just disrupt the spawn in a way that makes my experiment less controlled. The map also has its own timer, so I didn't have to rely on myself remembering when to leave.
Finally, I kept track of the exp, to make sure I killed the same amount of mushies in both cases. No server overload (during 2x) or lag or my own tiredness causing a significantly slower session. As you can see from the numbers, the difference in experience (after accounting for 2x exp, which does work) is less than half of a percent.

I noticed it too, it's supposed to drop etc item 100%, and today I sometimes get no drops at all when I killed and the meso drops the original amount.
They don't honestly expect us not to notice... right?

They do - mesos drop twice as often on 2x (when activated). Only the cs item makes them drop in double the amount.

I remember LMPQ + 2x drop used to be effectively 2x experience, since you'd have 2x ticket rate.
If I was still 51-70 to care about LMPQ, I'd be pineappling pissed.

I might be wrong about this, but weren't there a time where 2x drop events would give you the double amount of mesos? If not, then my memory fails again o.o

A few hours ago I decided to go another hour in that mushie mini-dungeon.
(:f6: Think I may be becoming addicted to it?)
This time I got about 5% less exp - must have been tired.
Got pretty much the same amounts of etc. items, a few more ores, significantly fewer potions, 5(!) equips, and a scroll (!!) (10% spear att).
So yeah, it's all about luck. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it isn't.
