It's the lowest base dex you can possibly have, which would be 4, 20, or 25. Stat-less or low-stat describe which stats you have added. The equipment you have has nothing to do with it. A 4 DEX Warrior using DEX equipment is not low DEX, nor is a 250 DEX Assassin with a Skanda DEXless. I can't believe anyone could actually have a hard time comprehending it.

I was one of the first person to talk about this build prior to the first Maple claw. Back then, when dexless were being discussed (privately at first, and then on sw.net), we define dexless as 4 base dex, nothing more, nothing less. This, perhaps was mostly due to the availabilities of scrolls/items.

Later, some decided to attach a new name to the dexless build calling it pureluck, which essentially the same, and newbies catching on quickly, which started the flame war.

IMO, comparing different branches of orange doesnt change the fact that it's an orange. The main reason most people go dexless is because of damages. You're building a build that tries to do the most damage, so why restrict yourself to certain gears? Why create more labels than necessary? Builds change due to items, eg HT necklace etc. It'd be silly to not try to reach out for better gears if you're after damages.

While at it, my definition of a lowdex sin is one who tries to maximise their damages using stats from equipments and have more than 4 base dex (but naturally less than claw requirement dex). Back in the old days, where 7 60% slain were considered uber, we only have overall dex scrolls, and a bit later shoe jump, people use them to subsidise their dex to wear the slain. Later other items come along and people adjust their builds. They're consistently trying to maximise their damages by adjusting their stats.

Therefore, I dont considered someone a few base dex < their claw is considered lowdex. IMO, lowdex isnt about numbers, it's about maximising damages.

Dexless =/= Pure Str

I consider DEXLess to be:

- A Warrior with under 6 base DEX (23 at Level 200, Classes that don't req. a secondary Stat will have 999 Primary and 23 Secondary at Level 200)
- A Pirate with 25 (or 20?) base DEX
- A Thief with 25 base DEX

Obviously it is extreemly hard for a Warrior or Knuckle-Pirate to maintain a consistant training pattern with 100% misses, so DEX/Accuracy equips are normally used. Thieves, in my opinion, are still DEXLess as long as they have 25 base DEX (aka, If you manage to obtain the 85 DEX worth in equips for a Scarab you are still DEXLess).

I think you mean:

- A Warrior with 4 base DEX
- A Pirate with 20 base DEX
- A Thief with 25 base DEX

And it doesn't matter if you use maple weapons (and scroll items for main stat LUK/STR) or you use normal weapons (and scroll items for your secondary stat DEX).

The point is that dexless = being not higher then the minimum base dex to do the 1st job advance. That's all....

The suffix "-less" usually means "without". So that means "without DEX". (excluding the required DEX to advance). If you're using equips (purposely) to reach the requirements of your weapon, then you're not "without DEX".

Warriors, Brawlers, Assassins, and Shadowers all have dexless, low-dex, and normal dex variants, however they do not all abide to the same definition for each variant

For Warriors:
Dexless- 4 base dex, equipment is scrolled primarily for dex and accuracy. This build sacrifices no Str and therefore is the most powerful. However, it is also very expensive due to accuracy issues.
Low Dex- around 5-39 base dex, designed to be less expensive than dexless, though slightly less powerful. Base dex is usually adjusted to reach an accuracy goal.
Normal Dex- 40~100 base dex, least powerful of the builds, but the additional accuracy from dex greatly reduces equipment costs.

For Brawlers
Dexless- 20 base dex, equipment is scrolled for dex (not accuracy) in order to equip a desired weapon (usually White Fangz, King Cent, or Dragon knuckle).
Low-Dex- around 21-40 base dex, same idea as dexless, but equips are cheaper due to more base dex. It also makes more room for scrolling for str.
Normal Dex- base dex is adjusted to equip the strongest available weapon, this generally means dex = level.

For Assassins
Dexless- 25 base dex, equipment is scrolled for luk, only lukless claws are used.
Low-Dex- base dex varies, enough to equip the strongest available weapon. Equips are scrolled for dex to help reach that goal.
Normal Dex- enough base dex to equip the strongest available weapon which after level 40 usually means dex = level + 40

For Bandits
Bandits also have varying degrees of Str, which make a scale difficult to create, but the degrees of dex are almost identical to those of assassins (with dexless being significantly less common due to lack of strong dexless daggers)

The suffix "-less" means in theory that you do not have ANY of the prefix. Thus, by saying dexless, you mean 0 dex. (Obviously, this will not happen anyway)

Also, you are dexless, if you remove all your equipment.

And that's really the issue I'm not going to follow up. Dexless is generally spoken for warriors to be 4 base dex. If not, there will be no dexless warriors out there! (At least not over level 15) And, we all would understand what a dexless warrior is, even if the person wears a ribgol. Dexless ribgol translates to 4 base dex ribgol user, and noone should really discuss with me that they can't understand this.

However, for thieves and pirates, the term dexless may be one of the following:
- Lowest base dex
- Using a weapon not requiring dex to be weared

In order to "fix" this issue, we need to establish "base dexless" and "weapon dexless" or something like that. Which will never(?) happen.

In my opinion there are two types of dexless (HERMIT): Pure LUK, being the type that uses dexless claws and gets as much LUK/W.atk as possible from equips. They do not use their dex (from their Helm/Shoes/Pendant or otherwise) I see this build as wasteful of stat. DEX Users, they use their DEX to equip a higher level claw (sleeve to casters, usually). I believe this build to be smarter, considering how much dex you can get easily now days.

But both are base 25 DEX, and thus (in my view) dexless. For warriors base 4 DEX is the only definition of dexless. As for brawlers, I don't know/like pirates.

Dexless: Little kids who care about flashy numbers and never make it to 4th job.

Kinda ironic that Im dexless too Rolleyes

For me, the word less would mean least amount possible. For example, the word useless means something doesn't have any use at all. So dexless would mean having 4 DEX in my opinion.

25 DEX = dexless.
26+ DEX to any reasonably capped number = low dex

The weapon matters not. If you can pull off a craven with just 25 dex, congratulations, you are dexless. Your dex is as low as it can go for your job.

i consider my mage to be 'dexless' , as for theifs and in fighters, i naturaly say low dex unless they reset their dex to 4.

I realize this is talking about DEX but, the discussion has come to the lowest possible base stat and the best equips with the base stat. I think that the only class that can truly be STATless is mages. Mages' INT directly affects magic attack and accuracy so that all they need is int essentially. Luk is just there so they aren't too powerful at the lower levels and to wear equipment.

People say warriors are DEXless but, without DEX they're worthless mules for Rage (Lol!) or HB.

*Back to the OT* I think DEXless means the lowest possible base dex that your job can let you have; warriors can have 4, thieves can have 25 and infighters can have 20. The people that say if you use DEX equips means that you are low-dex are dumb. =/ Is your dex still as low as it can go? If it is, you are dexless because you wouldn't be if people counted ZHelms and HT pendants. Other than INT which few non-mage people scroll zhelms for, scroll the helmet for DEX so that they can use higher-requirement weapons.
This means that no matter how much you want to say they are low-DEX, they are going to be DEXless.

*Side note* Also, some people don't like scrolling for accuracy because the equips are uncommon so they buy dex equipment for accuracy. Let's say you're a 4 base DEX warrior who never plans to get a Stone Tooth but, you scroll/buy equips with/for DEX. Does this mean you are not DEXless because you want to hit monsters higher than pigs?

*My 2 cents*Glitter

Dex is only an incidental for Warriors, with certain scrolled items their total accuracy from gear can be 110+, meaning the dex is entirely superfluous, just like Mages don't need the luk on their gear but have it anyway (since HT Pendants and stuff add useless stats as well as useful ones).

How is this debatable; DEXless means your DEX stat is as low as possible. Whether or not you want to have LUK/INT/STR equipment as opposed to DEX equipment is entirely up to you, and won't alter the simple fact that your character is DEXless.

Just because you can wear an item that requires a secondary stat doesn't not make you dexless. That's just stupid. Off the bat you get a free +37 dex with a zhelm and a pendant, so are people saying those who have zhelms and pendants are automatically not dexless? Come on, think about it. You can be dexless and wear dex gear as a thief, but you can also be dexless and wear pure luk gear as a thief. They're two separate concepts, and mixing them just further complicates things.

Dexless referrs to the lowest base dex possible that you can't reset out. If your dex is any higher than the lowest base possible then you're low-dex. Whether or not it's one or two points that's what it is. Saying that 5 or 6 is no different from a 4 base just blurs the line even if it's a few points. Last time I checked we were talking about the absolute meaning, not the approximate.
