Is their certain dimensions? Also is it required to have a background with the avatar? Or you just want a plain maple avatar with the theme on it? When you say avatar i'm thinking for a forum but, you want a maple avatar

You can submit whatever avatar you want, background or no background. All artwork must be sourced from maple somehow.

You mean the MAP OBJECTS have to sourced from maple, or the entire MAP?

Map objects, effects, mobs, tiles, char equips, etc.

does it have to be the actual objects or can it be only referenced? Like a drawing/painting?

Actual. Keeping the playing field level by ensuring anyone who can cut and paste and/or use banned story or whatever can compete with approximately the same tool set rather than having skilled artists in other mediums have an 'unfair advantage' over anyone else. This is about creativity with what you've got to work with, not what you can do on your own.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

As long as the art is sourced solely from MapleStory, sure.

I was born for this.

Question: How many times can you submit something? I assume once right?

Another question(s),

1.Can the objects be edited? i.e changed colours for a more halloweeny effect?

2.Is it limited to 1 character per? or can it feature 2?

It wasn't a topic that Eos and I hit on, I would assume once per category..

Just in case, Eos;

You can have as many characters in the avatar as you want, colors can be changed all you want. The only limiting factor is that the avatar's artwork must be 100% MapleStory sourced.

I am suggesting BannedStory as a sourcing program, not editing. You can edit your image anywhere you want.

So no custom items?

But I'll see what I can come up with... Items don't need to be available in gMS right? Just anything available in BS? Sounds like fun.

EDIT:

What does "using your char" mean? Do you actually need to have the look in-game?

Is pixel editing the objects used in BannedStory allowed? Ex: Changing a hat to look more like what you're dressing up as.

Rather, are we to only use what is available to us without having to heavily change it just so it can suit non-Maple standards?

I never mentioned it, but initially I was wanting the people entering to use the avatar they created as their own SP avatar for the duration of the event.

Since I never mentioned it, it is optional now.

Makes it rather hard to have an unbiased vote.

That is true. I was just having a chat with Maria about it, that's all.
