KhainiWest Wrote:...How exactly does that point to a pomegranate anime? Even if he was to die tomorrow, there's currently 16 people who cannot only draw it, but have access to the entire story. The illness isn't even anything to worry about because he got some nasty throat infection that simply persisted.
If he has the whole story planned out, what is with the goddamned slow pace?
Quote:If you want to a quick short story, that's fine but one piece is it's own novel, a story you grow with, that you get attached too because of the detailed world building that no other manga even compares. It has this light hearted attitude with spikes of bad assery, where the philosophies they throw at you, such as slavery, world government corruption, the meaning of freedom, don't make you think, they make you feel those view points. The best way to describe it, Goku was a naturally naive/silly protagonist, although luffy has that same nature, he has this more instinctual method of pushing his emotions. He doesn't try to justify his goals beyond short term simplicity. He doesn't have to give any long speeche's, just quick short liners about how he just has to kick your ass.
Then One Piece doesn't deal with silly romantic tensions, they don't deal with the morality of whether they kill their enemy. When they defeat them, they break them, they break their ideology, they don't have to take their life, which brings so much depth to so many characters. It isn't "Oh, this isn't my final form" each villain has an advantage to his own, one that isn't simply "I over power you". It adds even more depth to the combat, even the female's in one piece aren't useless, in fact Robin is pretty goddamn broken.
But the one thing I love about one piece the most, is the foreshadowing. The ultimate goal is to become pirate king, yet a battle, 100x greater than even the Whitebeard war, at the summit, where luffy's strongest ability is turning everyone around him friends. Where usopps lies turn into truth throughout their adventures, how the void century is the key to it all, and lastly, that there is no good or evil, just freedom and peoples perspective to honor it. Ultimately, luffy doesn't want to conquer the world, he doesn't want riches, he just wants to say "I'm the Pirate King, and I can do what I
want".
Christ, have you ever tried reading an actual book? Like, one that is filled with just words? Because I think it might just blow your mind if you think one piece is doing all these things well.

I think ill make a list and watch them based on the number of seasons/episodes, shortest to longest, so i can see as many as possible. I think ill start with Angle Beats soon.
I should have probably asked this at the beginning, but what are some good sties to watch anime on? I have been using crunchyroll mostly, but they dont have everything (specials/ova, licensed material). Any good sites that have most content?

Personally, I never watch anything off of Crunchyroll or anything. When I first got into anime I watched it on random anime sharing sites, but after a little bit, I just started downloading all the anime I watched, and have done that ever since. Doing it that way gets you the best quality videos, and more often than not, a better translation than the official ones.

What slow pace? Have you read attack of the titan's? Naruto? (You do, and that's a slow pace).

Considering most, if all students (not sure about you) have to read like 6 "classic" novels to even graduate high school, yes. So any actual criticism?
Edit: Back to square one "ITS TOO LONG, QQ".

We get it KhainiWest, you have a hard on for One Piece. Lets not turn this thread into a debate over it. This thread is suggestions of anime to watch for Niernen.

I reccomended one piece, someone else questioned it. I didn't even say it was the best or anything controversial, so go whine to someone else about it. I can defend it, unfortunately for the two bone heads they can't really refute it.

Meh, I think he should be allowed to defend it if he thinks they are wrong. it should probably be moved to VM's or PM's though if it's going to continue. *shrugs*
I actually quite liked the One Piece anime when it started, but I ended up stopping watching, by the time I was interested in watching it again it was a couple of hundreds of episodes in.
I'll probably read the manga eventually, though I imagine that's super long too. the longest manga I read was Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, that was longgg.

While downloading it would probably be more convenient, I would rather not. Besides the fact that i dont have unlimited storage (or a large external hard drive) to save it to,I dont really know any safe sites. That and my internet (through my university) does not approve of torrents (piracy and such), and you can get in trouble for it.

I don't like the idea of downloading anime either. streaming is easier, more convenient and less dangerous.

You don't have to save anime you download. Just download, watch, and delete. It's what I do, since between my HDD and External, I have all of 300mb of space, and the majority of that is taken up by my scanlation files. Although I'd definitely like to save a bunch of the anime I watch.
I've never really liked streaming. Yeah, it might be a bit more convenient, but the video quality is just never really... there. I don't know what you guys are really mean by "safe" and "dangerous" when it comes to downloading anime. There are countless ways to download anime done by fansub groups, and every method I've used, between the thousands of anime episodes I've downloaded, I've not once had any issue with safety. My current method of downloading is through XDCC on IRC. There are several dozen bots in the room #news on the Rizon.net server which have countless anime episodes available for download. Far more than you'd find through DDL or Torrents.
Not really going to get into the whole One Piece thing. People like it, people don't like it. There's little reason to get into a name-calling argument over opinions on a series, when no one else did so when animes they recommended were questioned.
Anyway; some more animes recs;
GJ-bu
Kimi to Boku.
Suisei no Gargantia
Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou
ef: A Tale of Melodies /ef: A Tale of Memories
GJ-bu, Kimi to Boku and Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou are all pure slice of life (with comedy) animes. Two of which revolve around a main cast of boys, with little interaction with girls (not yaoi or shounen ai, they're all straight).

Exactly what name calling was used previous to your post? Someone said it was sh`it, I told them to explain why, they brought up a point that has nothing to do with the actual story. I retorted of why I feel One piece is considered top tier. So to sum up, your post was more inflamatory than anything discussed concerning the anime. Good game.
Also streaming is safer because, well, you're opening an exe file vs streaming a video. Of course there is more risk. Personally downloading, deleting, then looking for the next one (Unless you download all of them) is more tedious than just simply pushing the next button. Also most anime I stream is in fact HD quality.

Sites I use. Just read through Usagi Drop manga and liked it. Apparently the anime only goes through the first 23 or so chapters.
People are entitled to like what they like. If you don't like something so what?

All you really do is google the title of the anime, the episode number, the only anime I had huge trouble finding was FMA brotherhood, but that's because funimation is riding it like crazy.

This website basically uploads their anime on their own website, so the quality is great.
Just disable your ad blocker if you have one on this website and you are good, and of course,
the ads are not within the episode if you are wondering.

Er... so what is your opinion on harem animes? Some of my friends like them, but are there any decent ones or ones with stories (vs "plot")
