Welp, they just changed the input system to take a tally of votes on the most typed in command every few seconds, and that's the input that is taken to move the character. Kinda ruins the point of it, IMO.

I ahve not really watch the stream, but I would guess running shoes are unusable since you need you hold b?

It was a recent feature added to try to help mitigate getting through places like the Team Rocket HQ's maze. Essentially there are now two modes for the Twitch chat. If the chat is in Democracy Mode, every few seconds, it tallies up the number of times specific commands are said and then only performs the command that was said the most. Anarchy Mode is the classic mode where every command typed into the chat is performed in the game on a 20-second delay. In addition to typing controls into the chat, people can type in "democracy" or "anarchy" to switch between the two modes.

Democracy mode defeats the maze! Onward to the lift and to Giovanni!

Don't worry, the false prophet Flareon was also released. All is right in the world now.

Bring me up to speed about what has happened over the past day. The last I saw, democracy had not been put in place and Flareon still existed.

Don't know much about the Flareon incident other than Drowzee "The Keeper" and Flareon "The False Prophet" were deposited in the PC and Flareon suffered the same fate as Jay Leno and Abby in where he was released instead of being brought back into the party. Drowzee on the other hand was withdrawn back to the party and has been with us since.

As for the Democracy stuff...

New Systems: Democracy Vs Anarchy

With the chaos, and the seemingly insurmountable Rocket Hideout rooms, the Game Host has instituted a method of voting on the system of player input. They have been termed Democracy and Anarchy.

Anarchy - The way the game started. Nothing more than the IRC parsing for command input, and when all previous action frames are complete, the next input is used.

Democracy - The new system where commands are tallied by the parser for twenty seconds, then the most-voted on command is used for the next action.

The Anarchy/Democracy Bar - The system itself is constantly being voted on in a tug-of-war running tally. If the votes for one crosses the threshold (indicated by a line on the bar) then the system will change until it is pushed the other direction.

Update As for the political allignments of the Gods, there is a lot more debate about it than at first seemed. Opinion seems to have swayed to say that the Helix supports Anarchy. However, the Dome doesn't have any strong opinions on the matter. I'll try to keep up to date with this.

I thought Kabutops was the Helix fossil one but it's the Dome fossil and now I'm conflicted because Omastar is just awful. It's just an angry ditto with tentacles and a shell.

It was completely and utterly impossible to do the Team Rocket base without it, and there will be similar issues for Victory Road and maybe even Safari Zone as well.

A necessary evil, honestly.
