Pirate page updated

Hmmmm so they changed some names around! Smile

Actually I like Buccaneer for a 4th job Pirate more then Viper! Smile

I'm glad I reserved several pirate names, also the one from a real Pirate from the past, the Dutch Buccaneer Piet Heyn! Although I've never seen any paintings of him in SuperTransformation Form... Hehehe Tongue

"Fan translation"?... >_>

They should just go with what sounds better. Viper was better than buccaneer, but i love them for outlaws.

Well the new names seem a little more "piratey" imo, so I guess its a good thing lol.

So what are we looking at with that week counter, one or two more weeks until next patch?

corsair instead of captain makes this a bittersweet moment for me, no idea why

Yes. Fan translation. The translations provided here and on other websites were made by fans, thus they are fan translations. Officially, the name "viper" is a changed name. Buccaneer is the proper name.

Totally.

The new names for pirates aren't bad. They're just going to take some time to get used to.

I kinda miss captain, since it has a more prestigious ring to it. Although Corsair sounds really awesome.

I still like the my IGN though Shine

Fan translation makes language sound like it's a copyright or something. xD

Yes words can mean different things but i've never seen someone going from viper (which means to basically strike fast) to buccaneer (which pretty much literally means a spanish pirate). O_o

Corsair is too french, i don't like it that much.

They should have made Buccaneer 3rd job and Marauder 4th job. Marauder sounds pretty damn cool for an endgame pirate.

Corsair sounds great.
But I'm gonna miss Viper. =[

IMO they should have kept captain for the 4th job infighter if they were to use corsair for gunslinger 4th job.

Captain sounds awesome and more prestigeous than buccaneer. Buccaneer sounds like a lowly pirate. I agree that marauder should have been 4th job name =/

Maybe there's still time to change it! everyone spam nexon for name change xD

LOL wrath of the octopi =P

some of the names seem okay... I liike the other translations better for some of them..

I'm pretty sure you have the names backwards. 4th job infighter was a viper, not a captain.

They should totally at the last minute switch Marauder with Buccaneer, make Buccaneer 3rd job and Marauder 4th... i dont care if they have to extend the patch 4 hours to do it.

Buccaneers were actually pirates who attacked the Spanish Armada, not Spanish pirates! Smile

A little pirate history:
- Corsair (French origin) > Lettre de Course > Letter from the French king to chase merchant ships.
-- Corsairs operated mainly in the Mediterranean Sea
- Buccaneer (Caribbean native origin) > Buccan > Boucan (French) > Tool to smoke meat on.
-- Boucaniers (French) / Boekaniers (Dutch) / Buccaneers (English) operated mainly in the Caribbean.

So now we all know what the names mean!

Both Corsairs and Buccaneers were real "groups" of pirates, Nexon did a good job on renaming them! Smile

Must've skimmed the dictionary.com page. I read "spanish" and "pirates" so buccaneers -> spanish pirates! xD

I'm going to assume you don't speak Korean. You don't know what the Korean name of these were, and when translating from another language, there can be multiple ways of translating something. Best example I can think of, the Japanese word, yasashii means both easy, and kind. Do those words have links in English? No. But in Japanese, they're the same.

Something tells me you're taking this conversation way too seriously. ._.

Oh i know that. I was simply stating that since Nexon dropped the name of "Captain" that they should have given that name to the now 'Buccaneers" instead for their 4th job title.

Like brawler --> marauder --> captain

instead of

Brawler --> marauder --> Buccaneer

I also like Brawler --> Buccaneer --> Marauder more xD

No, I just get annoyed at people who whinge at companies for "changing" the names of things. >_< Pet peeve of mine. Be glad you didn't know me when I was hugely into DBZ, I got horribly annoyed at idiots who screamed about "wrong" translations, who didn't speak a word of Japanese.
