This thing is frelcking devil magic!

The design is based on a database with which people who interact with it can submit characters and then contribute correct answers, and where correct answers on a guessed character help reinforce its selection. If you had enough people, you should be able to contribute a real character with fake answers unless they have real people on the other end evaluating submissions thoroughly. It's significantly based on the popularity and prominence of the character, such that users will submit it should they not find him/her while playing, or help submit more detailed questions when playing.

If you click on Details at the bottom after letting him win, you can see what the expected answers were. Oddly enough, a female character I was guessing was marked No as the expected answer for "Is your character a female?" which should really have eliminated her from the pool.

That being said, obviously super obscure characters will be difficult to find if they exist there at all.

I thought of Alpha from Megaman BattleNetwork 3, and eventually it guessed "The Game". People have apparently already been training it.

Didn't get mine. Sure feels good picking not-so-obscure characters from untraslated works.

Felt like I cheated by picking something not translated, so went with trying to make him guess Kunagisa (The first 2 Zaregoto novels have official translations) and he couldn't get her either. I beat him every time. You guys need to learn to pick more obscure characters. I don't even correct him when he loses. If he guesses one of my characters right, I'll reward him by filling his information banks with a character he doesn't have, but until he can guess one of my characters, he's not getting any info from me.

Edit: Giving up on him. I thought I was being way too mean so decided to pick a character that's more well known from a series that's more well known. He couldn't guess Falsita nor Phorni from Symphonic Rain. Not picking anything more popular than those. I'll check back on him the next time someone links me and see if he's updated enough to guess them. If nobody has given him sufficient information t guess Symphonic Rain characters, he's no chance of guessing any of the other character I have in mind.

I know exactly how he works, but I know for certain if I thought of Saya from Saya no Uta, he'd get her right. I'm sure there are people other than me that know of the character I'm thinking of and visit this site, but perhaps they all have the same thought process as I have. "If he can't get my characters right, I won't feed him any."

Symphonic Rain isn't really obscure, I was actually expecting him to get one of the characters from it. So I picked 2 main characters from it, and he couldn't get them. Therefore, he won't be getting any information from me, until other people give him enough information for him to be considered worthy of my input. Akinator is posted in places where people like obscure visual novels and such, trust me. Some of the characters he tossed at me as incorrect answers were from some titles not well known at all. He was way off point with Phorni though. He guessed Lilly White, and then Lilly Black from Touhou. Then he just gave up and claimed it was an original I made.

Never even realized there were language flags on the page, I usually just click the start of the game and go along with it. I'll try in Japanese now, but then that just means I'll have to go hard mode on him and pick an obscure Japanese character. I'm wondering how many hits he even gets from Japan.

Took him 40 questions to get Emil Castagnier (Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World).

I am not impressed.

I thought of 3 characters on the Japanese side and he couldn't get them, however they were in the list of names he thought of when he lost .In the end I thought I'd try using Phorni, and he got it.



I'll toss him a bone in the English section for it.

I'm surprised he got the Demi-Fiend, but he couldn't guess Lumine from Megaman x8.
