I'm pinning what hopes I have left on this being a boss..
I don't think it will be "the black mage" perhaps like this..?
The Maplers go back in time via a crack/portal in time temple, this brings them to the post big battle arena (as seen in inkwells) mercedes has just sealed the black mage, draining all her energy leaving her unconscious whilst the others are laying defeated. However the maplers are greeted with Magnus, Demon slayers replacement/perhaps pupil? However unlike Demon Slayer he is totally loyal to the black mage.
Out of rage he challenges the future maplers.
