Now I think about it, both characters that I have seen problems on are holding 1 or more NX items.
My crusader has her invisible hat/ pet/ safety charms
My sin has a shop permit (Though the problems aren't near as bad on her as my crusader, the worst of it seems to come when trying to CC into channel 1, though maybe it was amount of NX being held)
I dunno about that being the problem though. Seems very strange. Tempts me to move something onto my other mule and just sit it there and see what happens though. I am going to test this theory today
