You aren't always stripped down completely; it's not too uncommon for them to aim for specific things and take off once they get it.
My 3 hacking occurances
1: They moved all the gear from my NL to my bank? Then proceeded to sit there like a duck while something something they got dced. I lost nothing. (This one confused me the most. They only logged into my most recently used character, on an account with like 14 chars at the time.)
2: They got onto my nearly unused account at the time (bowmen) and stole my mesos from all my chars, and my BEAUTIFUL/PERFECT VIP bow. (I felt like crying like a peach.)
3: They accessed my unused I/L mage from Zenith, took my evo rings and my Ewand, left my Beran chars alone.
