They wanted to get rid of the circulating NX through the MTS, get rid of the MTS = people having lots of NX to spend on CS items and use that NX real quick...just look at these crazy deals in the CS. Now people MUST buy NX to get ANYTHING now and once MTS comes back = MASSIVE pay day.
I could see them doing this a couple times a year when they bring it back.
It'll be quite interesting at the end of the year to look at the difference in revenue. I'll expect to stupidly crazy insane new way for Nexon to work out the cash of everyone. I bet it'll be with the Pets when they have skills and equips that drop like other rare equipment and in gacha and recipe with a new cube for pet equips when you get amazing potential stats. All that good stuff!
Nexon makes their cash as soon as you buy the card... having NX sit in the MTS circulating doesn't hurt their wallet. Removing the MTS all together would hurt it a lot though.
