Why the Secret Spell Scroll system would have never worked.

Also, apparently EMS saves inventory at any point that involves removing or adding items.
Can't be that hard to do then.

It really depends on how the game is coded. I can think of ways it could be coded that would make this a nightmare to add, and ways that would make it a quick change to the code.

The question is how much of an inefficiency issue would it be. Hopefully the reason it was put on a timer in the first place was simply because they didn't see a reason to do otherwise. It was a sensible design decision at the time; imagine having to update the database every time a character gains an EXP point, changes map, does anything with inventory, etc. It'd be meaningless extra load on the server. Hopefully it is viable for them to enable it for inventory actions. I think that is the best solution; fixing the database management problem that leads to it.

The crashing is an issue as well, but good security practice says that multiple security mechanisms should be used. This duping is a serious security issue because of the fact that it hurts the entire maple economy. So as well as fixing the crashing, they should also fix the underlying issue, as server crashes are inevitable, and the security of the game shouldn't be dependent on the servers not crashing.

Interesting that EMS is capable of it though, that gives hope.

Also, I have my doubts about new servers being of use. A lot of people keep saying they need new servers, but if the software that the servers are running is flawed (which it is, and that is what is leading to a lot of the issues), then no matter how powerful the servers you throw at the problem are, they aren't going to help.
