Why has it been "okay" before but now it has to be either one extreme or the other? The government has never regulated 4chan, why MUST they start now if they were to fight SOPA?

I don't recall that being in question. But I don't find that a legitimate question. It hasn't been fine up until now, it's simply been tolerated but because of (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) New Zealand past a law similar to this, America is trying to follow suit. It is a justified cause to be honest, but unrealistic and were a little too deep to suddenly end it. I see the logic, but I don't see it ever just resolving that easily.
